Moiranne Rose chapter 1 . 6/25/2009 You crafty bugger. Well, you can't make a male write yaoi, not even if that male is the paralytic-gay-walrus writer Mengde. What can I say? I'm downright disappointed. I jest, somewhat. I liked the power struggle, definitely some very good characterisation through the conversation and subsequent violence. There's something about the "Mister Reno" I don't exactly like, but that's nothing. You're good at what you do, sir, and that includes your weaseling. One day Sai or Quiet or someone will make sure you write the slash us womenfolk adore. Until then, this will have to do. Love, MR (PS: Read as "That was freakin' awesome but you need to contribute more brain cells to the Build a Good Slash Fandom fund.") |
NOLONGERINUSEtch chapter 1 . 6/22/2009 Hm, dare I say Rufus went through all that mishap just to have that darn desk removed? Other than that, if not for the violence, Rufus strongly reminds me of Hank Rearden, from Ayn Rand's infamous Atlas Shrugged. All power and self-interest while still maintaining maturity and grace-all of which concludes to one thing: you made Rufus perfect. Even more so with the blood and submission and the demand for respect, as is apparent in-game. Reno too, was right on cue with his refusal about authority but then, hesitation—but give him money and all is good; I'm sure you know all that. Including your style, this is simply mesmerizing; you just have a way with words. I liked it and found it oddly tasteful. (: |
Livi chapter 1 . 6/9/2009 sweet *whistles approvingly* i like it. Rufus is pretty bad-ass himself ;) i really enjoy your writing. keep it up! love this pairing too ;P swet thnx for sharing! |
FearandLoathingXIX chapter 1 . 5/15/2009 For you to turn your pen towards Rufus/Reno is a great day for us all, Mengde. I'm impressed /and/ delighted. |
MysticSpiritus chapter 1 . 5/15/2009 Heh, I wouldn't so much say you weasled out of it as much as tactfully danced around the definition of "it must be hot". I find power-hungry men very attractive and Rufus acting like he did here fit my opinion of "hotness" very, very well. And the desk was involved so ... Ya, i lieked it, kthx! However, you know what Pen was really wanting. For shame, mister Mengde. *wags finger* ;) Mystic |
Kils chapter 1 . 5/14/2009 Interesting and exciting. Although it does raise the question on how good a Turk Reno is if he's well... so easily outmaneuvered in a physical struggle. Liked the story though, good job and hope to see more. |
Strange and Intoxicating -rsa chapter 1 . 5/14/2009 You weaseled, pretty boy. I CALL YOU ON IT! It was good, however. Though... I did want to see how you would do it in the way Pen meant for it to be played out. I did find a few minor flaws. For example, I am almost positive that Veldt isn't the proper name- he is always been either Verdot or Veld. I've never seen Veldt, so you may just be looking at a different guide. Also, you have "termsfor" stuck together when Rufus is on top of Reno, explaining about dogs and their food and humans and their money. Otherwise, good... even though it skipped over the prompt. :P I'll make sure to be very, very specific when I leave you a request. Very specific. There will be no weaseling out of the next one, Mengde. :3 Sai |
Cynical Eye chapter 1 . 5/14/2009 Heh, I loved it. People always forget that not only is Rufus a tactical/economical/psychological genius, he is also a physically strong figure. I mean, even though he lost, he did face Cloud in 2 vs 1 combat... and survived. Considering he was badass enough to both try to kill Kadaj AND jump off a building while doing it, this scene is entirely plausible. An interesting note: Rufus licking blood, and as a whole seeming to be very irritable and slightly... *gasp* megalomaniac-like. It works well because he was suppose to be a cold-hearted, mentally fucked up bastard in the game... who, of course, "redeemed" himself. As Always, -TM |
