The dreams weren't really a power but actually Bella's mind working through what she already knew. Also Edward being out of reach wasn't a New Moon foreshadowing, in New Moon Bella tells Edward after he returns "It never made since for you to love me I always knew that." meaning she was always insecure about herself and their relationship. If you ever been to S.M's website in her blog it used to talk a manuscript called Forever Dawn, it was basicly Breaking Dawn but the original sequel to Twilight, S.M"s editor told her that it left to much out to be a sequel so she wrote New Moon and later Eclipse to feel in the gaps.
