Reviews for Encounter
Sear chapter 1 . 2/12/2010
Very interesting character introspective - and interaction. And Swoop is always a plus.
John Smith chapter 1 . 7/9/2009
Swoop is my personal favorite Dinobot, because he is calm and compassionate to an extent that none of the other Dinobots seem to share, as far as I know. Which is really why this story works so well. It's a testament to his character that he would learn the way of the flyers so quickly, and then use it conservatively, without launching a quixotic attack. Like all the other Dinobots would.

Meanwhile, Thundercracker plays the same role in his seeker trine. He is the collected and quiet one who seems to listen more than he speaks. While Starscream is doing just the opposite, and Skywarp is constantly taking actions without thinking much at all (or so it seems), Thundercracker is soaking in his surroundings and reflecting on their meaning.

This chance encounter is beautiful and allows the two characters to not only be themselves, but to learn something about one another. They can respect each other and exist simultaneously without conflict. This obviously does not mean that they are suddenly allies or friends, but it does mean that they can appreciate the other for his mutual respect and predicament in his respective group.

Yeah, sorry for the quasi-pretentious analysis, but after Thundercracker's example, I had to do some reflecting myself. I love both these characters, especially Swoop, and it makes me happy to see them interacting in such a way, without having to turn on my suspension of disbelief at all. Impressive and graceful writing, coupled with beautifully simplistic character exposition make this an instant favorite. Keep it up!

Interesting introspective. It makes kinda sense for Thundercracker to have the motivation you give him here; and to see him coming close to a paradigm shift is fascinating.

A well written, interesting, carefully written one-shot. Would be interested to see Swoop puzzling through the encounter post-battle if the muse would strike, but as I said, a good one-shot.

Thnak you for sharing.
