I did not like the third sentence of the second paragraph. I was dismayed by the run-on sentence. The rest of the story, I loved. You managed to capture Zoe and Mal's relationship perfectly in less than a page. BTW, LOVE the disclaimer.

Excellent. You really portray them as being what they are- comrades in arms. They believe in each other because they have to. Each depends on the other to survive. They give each other hope.

This piece has a nice sense of desperation.

Mal's character is particularly well done.
