Reviews for Going Back
Raj8 chapter 9 . 8/28/2019
Just finished reading the entire thing, overall it was an enjoyable story.

It had a fairly simple premise and a satisfying conclusion, props for the fact that you kept the stakes low and understandable throughout the story.

Okami No Yume chapter 1 . 2/2/2018
Hello, so I logged in just to review this. I know this story is over seven years old, but I heard about it via a rec list, and it had been on my to read list for awhile. Well, this week, I finally sat down and read it and well...I was quite hooked. Your way with description and writing and conveying emotions is excellent. The only criticism I have are a few awkward grammatical errors here and there, but nothing jarring me from the story too much.

Otherwise? One of the best Pokemon fics in the fandom, hands down. My heart dropped with every harrowing adventure and peril that Joshua's team endured to escape the cave. I wondered if someone would die, or if Joshua would survive. There were so many close calls. It's rare that a fic puts in in such suspense on who will make it and who won't but you did it. The most beautiful part about this story though was the profound, absolute, fierce loyalty and affection Joshua's team had for him. They would have done anything, made any sacrifice to get him to safety. The fact that Joshua's team was so deeply loyal to him spoke volumes about his character as a trainer, that his team would go that distance and push themselves to their very limits to save him. And...the fact that everyone lived made me so, so happy. I feared for most if not all of them at one point or another. Strangely, I thought Flareon could have died, if not Golduck, or Lucario might have given himself up in some kind of heroic sacrifice. I'm glad that wasn't the case. That scene in chapter eight with the Golem was awesome, by the way.

All this to say, this story was a genuine pleasure to read. If you return to the Pokemon fandom again, I hope you do. As it is, this story stands nicely on its own.

AuSil chapter 8 . 1/8/2016
I came back to read this for a second time, so I feel obligated to review again (which is why I'm not set to review chapter 9).

It's everything I remembered it to be. The pacing, characterization, descriptions, and struggles all make for a very enjoyable read. It's a well written story and certainly among the best pokemon fanfics I've ever read.
I expect I'll be back in a few years for another reread, something I almost never do for any stories (even published works).
Biancachu chapter 9 . 10/23/2015
This was just awesome. I'm amazed at your ability to write so well. This felt realistic, although I would have preferred a little more sadness from Jonah at the deaths of so many Pokemon. He wasn't as jaded as the others.
Wow!

cute
ZappuelLightnin'Rod chapter 9 . 3/2/2014
This was a wonderful story. It was very realistic in nearly all of the situations. There were problems, I noticed, throughout some of it, but I would mainly say that they were just a case of that they felt a little like deus ex machinas.

In all honesty, I don't really think this needs a full sequel, or prequel, but I wouldn't mind reading little stories based off of events in the past of this story. Like one about the robber and his Pikachu on 215, or the trek on the snow-bound route of 217. I'd actually really would like to read through those.

Still, even with some of their flaws, I really enjoyed this story. It was a good read for me. Thank you so much for writing it.

This chapter... is amazing. I'm speechless. So much action, so much emotion... I honestly don't think I can say everything I loved about this. I'd have to re-read it and take notes on it all... which I honestly wouldn't mind doing. The chapter is that good. Just... good job, is the best I can say.
ZappuelLightnin'Rod chapter 7 . 2/26/2014
This was an action packed chapter. They all fought hard and well here. Partially makes me proud, as someone who's taken care of some of these guys. I kw they're not my own, but still. I look forwards to seeing them combat the Golbat in the next chapter.
ZappuelLightnin'Rod chapter 6 . 2/23/2014
Well.. that was a trip. Not gonna lie, did not see that coming. I always wondered what would happen if a human got injected with Pokemon medicine, and now I have the answer. One massive LSD trip. It's okay, I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight.

Still, I liked the dialogue between all of the characters. Didn't know Torterra had claustrophobia. Poor guy. It's okay, you okay have three more chapters to go through big guy. Hopefully.
ZappuelLightnin'Rod chapter 5 . 2/22/2014
Ah, so in this chapter Joshua wakes up? Marvelous! It's really nice seeing him interact with his Pokemon. The way he talks to them is really nice to see once again, and quite refreshing from just seeing all of the Pokemon talk to one another. Not to mention that little logical thing with the Pokeball was really cool. Not to mention that I, like, Joshua here, wouldn't try to delete them from my Pokedex, considering I'd probably have no idea what I'd be doing as well.
ZappuelLightnin'Rod chapter 4 . 2/20/2014
This was a good chapter. Plenty of action, and plenty of dialogue. Heck, when Flareon was pushing those boulders, I felt bad for her. And I mean, like, really bad. Like, on the verge of tears bad. And I never even raised one of her kind. Maybe for my next game, I will.

I do have to say, I think you dwelled a little too much on the whole "Golduck water gun for hydration" Thing. Although, it makes me glad that I rarely raise water types one of them was a Clawitzer, so that would be less awkward. Still, all in all a great chapter.
