I think you captured this moment perfectly. It all stayed withing character. Even those who don't like the idea that maybe Conner sent Cameron back for this. how/who else would he ever be able to have in order to stay human could there be? Anyone who gets close to him dies a horrible death. A person can only take that so much before they completely shut down. Conner knows this. But having someone, anything is necessary to keep going. Otherwise you shut down...give up...
