Yes ! A story with John & Charlie as math geniuses (and McKay reaction) please !

Every time I have re-read this ficlet over the past few years, it keeps drawing me in. Brilliant!

PS: I'm not sure if John actually hides his understanding of math. He just doesn't flaunt it and people around him seem to fail to pick up on it. Just like you described it in your oneshot: Sheppard merely solved the problem when nobody was looking, but while he was still in plain sight. No boasting, no pointing it out.
Do you remember the episode where Rodney blows up most of an entire solar system? Sheppard's there with him, minding the other systems and I think one of Rodney's computers. And he VERY clearly seems to know what he is doing. McKay however is so convinced it's him who understands everything and everyone else around him is just too stupid, I can see how he wouldn't have noticed.
Now you brought Charlie into the mix, someone with decent social skills and who has no problem whatsoever to give credit where credit is due. And Dr. Rodney McKay's scruffy bodyguard companion must have at the very least more than peaked his interest. Considering that Prof. Eppes has the reputation of being a wunderkind and genius and there came a man he on sight has written off as a non-mathematician, who then in less than two hours has solved something he didn't manage in months . . . ! You know how excitable Charlie can be. *snicker*
I wonder if the equation happened to be the core bit to Charlie's Cognitive Emergence Theory and if John's addition to it for all intents and purposes was the vital part Rodney was aiming at when he drew Charlie into the discussion on mind controlled technology.
Would Larry and Radek get along well if they met?

BEAUTIFUL! I so hope you'll expand this. The idea in and of itself is a brilliant one anyway. I'd SO love to see Rodney's face if Charlie tried to contact him in order to ask for getting him in touch with his 'security detail' instead of Atlantis' resident self-proclaimed no. 1 genius. And learning why. *snicker*
It's just another little aspect where Rodney is wrong or just plain oblivious in his estimation who and how John Sheppard is. Like the Kirk comments: Sheppard seems to be guarding his heart closely and decidedly does NOT try to go for casual sex unless he has either fallen head over heals for someone or had months to get close to them. (Oh, and despite DADT still being active for Air Force personnel back then, the day Carson Beckett died he asked Ronon if there was someone female or male - without batting an eye - he fancied, so he clearly has no prejudice whatsoever when it comes to who you love.)

I don't think Sheppard would hide his math abilities. He just wouldn't tell anyone unless it was necesary to save the world or appeared in casual conversation.

Great job! I love to think that John is just as smart as Rodney, he just has his geeky side focused on math. Also loved the connection between the shows.

I loved this one-shot, but it would be great if you could continue it! There is so much potential for Sheppard and Charlie to work together on math and make Rodney jealous for a while... a secondary pleasure to solving some major crisis, of course.
