Brilliant. I loved the setting of them all being in the Academy, and I loved how Hanataro changed with the deck of cards in hand. Awesome story, great characterisation.

Awww I'm not completely sure why, but I love this! Hanatarou is one of my absolute favorite characters, so him pwning someone probably has something to do with it. But your wording and way of setting the scene is fantastic Great job!

I really enjoyed this- I think you have the characterizations spot-on, and it's fun to see Hanatarou grow in confidence, even if it's just for a moment. Good job!

I like the idea of Hanatarou having some skills, but there are some points I'd like to make. The first is that in Soul Society, the higher the number of the district, the more lawless and vicious it is. As an example Zaraki is from district 80, so I seriously doubt Hanatarou would have been able to survive there even as a Shinigami. The second is that by the time Byakuya was a student Shunsui was already a mature captain. Finally I feel that the chapter needs to be fleshed out a bit more before the game.

I'm so glad you decided to write your own when the idea caught you as this one is really sweet. *happy sigh* I thought of Shunsui and Byakuya as well, one for the nobles doing all the card-playing until the Westerners brought theirs the other for the sake cup which can be either a 1-pointer or a big one. *laughs* But I love what you did.
