thereisaredeemer chapter 1 . 4/24 I know that this is movie based, but I can pretend it is book based. Beautiful, and moving. I could have cried. |
Myrrhee chapter 1 . 3/28/2018 The pain of the loss in this little story was breathtaking. |
Shipwright's Trick chapter 1 . 10/3/2010 Positively beautiful. I like how you made it so clear it was Hawkeye speaking without using words; I didn't realize you hadn't once mentioned the speaker until I read some of your reviews and it came to me that you had never once said 'Hawkeye' or 'Nathaniel'! (Well, all right, you mentioned brothers and fathers, but still...) The last paragraph really got to me, probably ince the flying mentioned here was figurative whereas before it was meant in a more literal manner. So very sad... Uncas is one of my favorites. : ( |
Jacobleah chapter 1 . 3/10/2010 Beautiful one shot. Made me tear up. |
Aimee TheSilverEagle chapter 1 . 1/1/2010 I really love this! You can tell it's Nathaniel speaking, even though you never directly say so. Most stories focus on Alice/Uncas, but this is the only one I've seen that shines on Uncas alone, and what he was as a person. I love how you make it seem that he was more than just a regular guy, and that he only matched himself to us for our sake. And then at the end he does what he was always meant to do, and flies! Please make more stories like this with other characters, you did a supberb job! |
bethsaida chapter 1 . 7/1/2009 I think the one-shots on this site are absymally under-reviewed, and it makes my heart weep because so many of them are good. This is easily the best one I've seen yet. Bittersweet and sad, but not overdone - a grief so quiet it becomes all the more tragic for its understatement. And told from Nathaniel's point of view, as if he is the little brother watching his older brother die - definitely a new perspective. I wish for a different ending the to the film quite often, but I know creating anything more beautiful than the closing sequence is near impossible. This captures the moment perfectly. Thank you. |
really chapter 1 . 3/9/2009 "When finally I saw him, poised on the top of the cliff, he was a bounding elk no longer. Perhaps he never was." Sigh. This was so very, very lovely; and so very, very sad. A gorgeous drabble, though; a pleasure to read. :) |
Luv4Uncas chapter 1 . 3/6/2009 Uncas was definatly the fastest of the two, he could have easily taken down the elk instead of his brother but was too kind to go ahead without his father and brother! Great job, so beautiful write more about Uncas! Amazing! |
Robin and Marian 4ever chapter 1 . 3/6/2009 This is hands down one of the best stories/drabbles I have ever read. This matched Haweye's voice spectaculary and it fits Uncas to a t. As I was reading this I reviewed the movie in my mind and just kept nodding, I could see Uncas matching pace with Hawkeye for his brothers sake as they were growing up and you could see that in the movie. ~~RM |
