One of my favorite things about this series is your take on Duo's narrative voice. I just love all of those little quips and plays on common idioms and collocations. "...a certain pilot who shall remain Japanese" stuck out in this one, but it's been there from the beginning. "I please to aim." Then add to that all the meandering thought processes in between. That line an installment back about being able to talk under 6 feet of wet cement. This is the kind of stuff that sticks!

If you ever get around to publishing any original fiction, let me know! I'd pick up a narrative with this much wit any day!

The little glimpse you give us of the prejudice that the pilots sometimes encounter is surprising (in the development of this series) and very interesting. I like how Duo isn't jaded over it. He really is comfortable in his own skin when it comes to his role in the war. I really like that about him. Something tells me that's also one of the things Trowa really likes about him, too.

How much do I love it that Trowa drops EVERYTHING when Duo calls him? OMG, I am SUCH a fangirl. Is it terribly shallow of me to hope that Duo is transferring some of his fascination with and a bit of burgeoning obsession for Trowa to his bike? I can hope, right?

Duo trying to butter up Trowa into helping him is PRICELESS. PRICELESS, I SAY. And I think I drooled a little bit at the mention of biceps and Trowa's ripped status. Uh... guh... erg...

Oooh, the opening lines of the Widowmaker story is such a tease! I'm seeing parallels... PARALLELS! I also love that Duo tells Trowa his best friend is a motorcycle. I think Trowa realizes then that Duo isn't all Mr. Suave Perfect. I mean, to consider an inanimate object to be your best friend kinda hints at, y'know, Issues. For the first time in you series, I suspect that Trowa doesn't feel "behind" Duo emotionally/socially.

I love the banter about modesty and being a god amongst mechanics. LOVE IT. It's like we're really stripping back the defensive layers and seeing a whole new THEM, if that makes sense.

"Naw, but my pride sure could use mouth-to-mouth." Whew! Is it gettin' warm in here or is that just me? Also, Trowa dusting off the back of Duo's shirt? Y.E.S. And Trowa's obvious (if belated) concern is adorable. He should definitely lookd Duo up and down more often. *wink wink*

And I have to agree with one of your previous reviews. The last line of this fic is the clincher. While I don't think Duo's ready to share his heart with anyone romantically, I like that he's consciously chosen Trowa to be his best friend.

Aw, y'know I was thinking the "lowbrow setup" line was the most hilarious in the story, but then the last few sentences completely stole the show! I love the no concussion until Trowa was unsympathetic thing. And the giving alcohol to a concussed guy. Hilarious stuff. Even the sweet litte "human" best friend line at the end was just-perfect. What can I say, besides how much I enjoy every Appearances segment you post? They are treasures!
