You give him the depth and nuance he deserves and portray the CN friendship exactly as it is (and how it ought to be shown on the show).

I am completely in love with this, the different images he portrays to his parents, grandparents, and then Chuck. And how Chuck sees each one and contemplates their different burdens. How he hadn't impressed the Vanderbilt's, but Nate hadn't either.

And this: "and he had to resist the urge to run over and explain to them, that Nate was his only friend, the only one who had always stuck up for him, and that they had no right to judge him." - SO PERFECT. 3 It is such PERFECT CN.

so well done. I love Chuck and Nate, they really do just have the wonderful chemistry (not sexual, or anything) that just speaks of a closeness untouched by anything.

You have Chuck wonderful on paper! He is an awesome dude, and you capture him well.

Beautiful! I love the throwback to Nate crashing on Chuck's couch. They are indefinitely the best friendship on the show. I think you should write for GG! You know how to handle Mr. Archibald and Mr. Bass wonderfully.

Two (and a half?) lines that I loved…

"Chuck remembered he didn’t like him. / Sometimes, Chuck Bass loved smugness."

It was perfect! You nailed his personality perfectly. Totally pompous and a bit smirky, but ultimately cares about Nate.

"Chuck, feeling as if the red light he had seen only a few moments ago had just exploded in his brain…"

The imagery of that is stunning.

This is a lovely story; you did a great job describing the way they feel towards each other, the things they never say but always know. I think you do a better job than the show itself does, sometimes, of describing Nate's angst. On the show his constant sadness sometimes comes off as a bit...phony? Kind of? Like "well what the hell do you have to be sad about, rich boy?" but here you've explained it very well and I do feel for him.

Loved the much needed N/C! It's like they're best friends but they never really talk...
