Your take on this post-canon period is just great . . . you've captured Minerva's character so well, including her relationships with the other members of her staff. You've managed to make me feel a bit more friendly towards Slughorn in this installment, and he has always rubbed me the wrong way :)

I immensely enjoyed Albus' portrait, the teapot, the lemon drups, and the chessboard. One can see how Minerva would want to put that in especially.

I also loved the description of Horace, spot-on! Of course he already knows everyone and everything. And his protestations that where "for once" genuine made me smile. If the old free-loader is to make a generous gesture, this is the perfect moment for it.

I loved Augusta Longbottom too.

I'm so glad to see this universe continue. Minerva is in character and just as I like her - calm, sensible, wry, over-dedicated, reserved (but clearly also a person of strong feeling). Of course she'd find it satisfying to sit on the Court, and it's fun to think of her there. I'm fond of the Albus and Severus portraits, too - I think it's just what they both would want. Good to see Arthur in a position of power; he's just what they need (and Augusta, too! love that woman). Also love Minerva's party outfit and the transfiguring of her regular clothes into a clutch (clever, that). I have just one request: no romance between MM and Slughorn! That's one pairing I'd rather not contemplate /g/
