Oh wow, this was just BRILLIANT. It was written well, nothing felt out of place or jarring, an the characters felt so...themselves! I loved Gokudera's dry/cutting observations and the way you described everything, from how Yamamoto smiles to Gokudera's childhood dreams...brilliant.

YES. YES YES YES. This made staying up past 4:30am worth it. In fact, it's the reason why I'm still awake.

I love Gokudera's dry observational thoughts with their own quirky sense of humour. The narrative fit his character so well and some of your descriptions were absolutely wonderful. Wait, screw that, EVERY description was absolutely wonderful. The little ones like 'grinning in that vaguely obnoxious Son of the Year way of his', to the big ones like when Gokudera likened Yamamoto to Japan and its contrasting exterior and interior. Not only the blatant descriptions were spectacular; the small implied things were also nicely written like that (not very) mysterious 'dull thud' during Gokudera's failure of an exit.

(And I must confess that I nearly burst into uncontrollable laughter at that part; when Gokudera pulled out A GUN - during a WEDDING RECEPTION - to prove to Midori and Kento that he was 'totally prepared to take' any yakuza cake-saboteurs, I think I almost split my bottom lip with the force of my grin.)

Takeshi was so hilarious when he asked Hayato to accompany him. Anyways, I loved it. I love their little bathroom scene, I love how tacky Gokudera thought the whole wedding was, and I LOVED how he and Tsuyoshi got trashed together and had a long drunken talk. That was just great.

The car scene was really good too. Their dialogue was definitely that of a sober person talking to a drunk person, but very bittersweet at the same time.

Good job, once again!

Oh your Gokudera was awesome, pissy and foul-mouthed and socially inept. And the relationship-friendship-whatver between him and Yamamoto was wonderfully written, subleties and fine nuances.

Oh god, this fic was brilliant; it takes quite a lot to make me actually laugh out loud at something, but you succeeded several times! Taxi driver with a mohawk/ Gokudera and Tsuyoshi drunk in a closet have got to be my joint favourite images ever now.

Reading this, my thoughts were something like, "Yes! That's it! THAT'S why I love this pairing so much." You write the characters perfectly, especially Gokudera. Loved his failed attempt to get Yamamoto to leave, loved his getting drunk in a closet with Yamamoto's dad, and I adored the prayer. You did a great job with the subtle slide of the fic from humor to something a little more angsty, too.

Also: "Yamamoto was, in many ways, just like Japan itself, self-possessed and unperturbed on the surface, but mind-bogglingly complex underneath, with Shinto New Year rituals and Buddhist funerals and western-style wedding receptions," was one of the most perfectly summed-up descriptions of Yamamoto I've ever read. I really loved that line. Great fic, adding it to my faves.
