It's different for different people. And people are as varied as the rest of Nature.

For those who shared a towering love, who seemed to be a single soul motivating two separate bodies, whose love had lasted decades ... the loss may be irrevocable. I fear that when my father dies - which may be very soon - my mother will not take long to follow. I can't yet think about it in any real depth. I will miss him so much! So often now, I wish we lived closer; rarely do I get to see them more than once a month.

Gar and Raven had, at most, ten years together. She is still a young woman (and, given her demonic heritage, may age VERY slowly anyway) and she NEEDED to move on. I'm glad Gar gave her that freedom. Most people deserve to find happiness in love.
