So it's been a while since you originally wrote this fic, but I was just rereading HtS and realized that I really wanted to find some Johnny/Gareth background story. I knew the odds weren't good, since there are so few Sevenwaters stories out there, but lo and behold! Thanks so much for writing this, it was exactly what I was looking for and quite well-written to boot. My only qualm is that everyone was just a bit too accepting—I imagine, given the time period, that that wouldn't really be the case. Still, it was a good read. And if you've still got those oneshots floating around, I am definitely interested!

So, I really wanted to give you a awesome and eloquent review, but that's not going to happen because I have a really bad head cold. But I'll atempt it.

I really loved the Johnny/Gareth aspect in Heir to Sevenwaters, and if J. Marillier has decided not to give us more back story, this is totally what I would want for it. It's sweet and a little angsty, and the characters are well developed and very in character.

Wonderfully written! This series is filled with great characters, and you do a great job of portraying them. I didn't expect to actually find any Sevenwaters fics went I went looking for them, so I was thrilled to see a Johnny/Gareth story. I loved what you did with this relationship, especially the non-proposal. Very sweet.

That was absolutely lovely. I was thrilled to see a gay couple in one of Juliet's books, and the fact that there's this sweet fic for them (with Cathal providing comic relief) . . . like I said, lovely.

I'm so happy to have found this fic! Juliet Marillier needs more fanfiction! I wish I could read one good Faolan/Bridei story (no need for slash, I love friendship stories) but for now I'm content with this one )

I was surprised to see Juliet make a gay pair, I would have never thought that of her... she so into the romantic "needy man" and the "valiant woman"
