Great story. I loved Castiel standing up for Sam.

It's so strange to read a point of view like this, when we didn't know that God was not around and the angels were working towards the apocalypse... But if I think about it, I guess Castiel didn't know those two things either at this point, so it still holds up. It's just a different perspective. :)

Castiel watched the Winchester brothers as Sam finally hollered ‘uncle’ and Dean pulled him out of the snow. He kept a firm grip on his brother’s arm as Sam leaned over to brush himself off, then smacked the younger man on his back and grinned widely as they walked back towards the car. The angel tried to imagine a world in which Sam Winchester had never been born but knew in such a place he’d never recognize Dean. They had shaped each other as much as the world around them.

“Neither was I.”

And then they were gone, two puffs in the air, unnoticed and unmissed.

What a great little scene. The angels were very much in character and I could well imagine Castiel and Uriel having such a conversation. And loved 'watching' Dean and Sam just being brothers, quietly from afar, just like the angels. Very cleverly done.

Not sure of the story you read but I'm glad you did. It's very heart warming to 'see' the boys having fun together. Good job with Castiel and Uriel, true to character. very well written.

Loved it! Although I was hesitant to read this b/c I hate Uriel with a passion...you managed to keep them both in character, but not so much that I couldn't get through this. Nicely done. And the little fight between Sammy and Dean...perfect!

Now these are angels I can get behind...and a conversation that makes a lot more sense to me than Uriel simply telling Sam he's only not dead because he hasn't messed up badly enough YET, with the assumption that he WILL.

Especially perfect to me is the "Lucifer is loved, yes, but he does not love back." A very tight, true summation of the difference between Good and Evil.
