Ah, yes! One of my favorite moments I didn't catch until I read it in the novelization. I love that you noted that Mal isn't the type to stop and say goodbye. That's very much like him. (Perhaps it's why I crush on this fictional character.)

Oh gosh, love this, Mal and Inara share the best looks. Neither one of them is very good at saying what they want to, so maybe they should stop talking and get on with it...

I can see him saying the words, which would still have fit in the whole BDM. I still wish you'd write longer fics, because this is a perfect example of part of a conversation I want to read more of!
