We've seen these Helicarriers in all the movies (yes - including the FIRST "Captain America" - albeit only at the end). A SHIELD Helicarrier is every bit as large as the Nimitz - except that the carrier ITSELF is flight-capable - not merely the planes (which are what the MV-22 Osprey wants to be when it grows up - Osprey meets Harrier). Lakenheath is a former RAF base now used for civil aviation (in fact, mostly freight aviation - UPS and FedEx these days, along with DHL).
Folks that laugh off the idea of a Helicarrier need to be rather forcibly reminded that both the Harrier AND the Osprey were supposed to be impossible - then improbable; both are in active service in the Royal Marines AND Royal Navy (not merely the USMC and USN) today.
