Terrific. I love how you used Kate as a third person to creat the characterization of the Gibbs and Tony. True to the show, yet so much more.

My gosh, just discovered your stories and enjoying reading each one. Especially this one, great insight, and love the scene in the hospital. Gibbs tired enough, or worried enough to actually be candid with Kate.

Really well done story (stories!).

Tony had once pointed out the resemblance to Gibbs' gaze and the 'Death Star', with its planet destroying ray, featured in the movie 'Star Wars'. I could definitely see his point sometimes. Haa That line had me laughing.

I will never forget the look of horror in Gibbs' face as he pushed himself through the door.

"Tony!"

Kate realized that Gibbs AND Tony TAKE CARE AND WORRY ABOUT EACH OTHER SINCE THEY ARE ALONE.

My god, YES. Sounds vaguely orgasmic, no? sorry. Sorry. No more terrible jokes. Truth be told, this is heart-breaking. My god, I love her observations. I got on the NCIS bandwagon a bit late so I missed Kate, but I think I'd have liked her more than I like Ziva. I loved her quiet and sometimes terrifying observations, like the line about the kind of love tony has for gibbs? win. You just win. Like the gold trophy. And a hundred dollars worth of book vouchers for the epic 'neither of you do". Perfect ending, beautiful beginning. And it utterly in character of tony to do this kind of thing, and even more so of gibbs to not get it, observant as he is. I think I'm a little in love with this. Thank you for writing this and making my exam week. Bleh.
