Interesting idea with the paper planes. I'm still curious to know who was sending them. But as they say, some of the best things in life are the unexplained.

From an editorial standpoint, I think you said 'paper plane' too much. Even substituting with the pronoun 'it' would've helped a little bit. Another thing would be that you could elaborate more in each section, but perhaps you purposely wrote it to be simplistic.

Oh, and you shouldn't apologize for it's length! Awesomeness doesn't care about length!

Either way, keep writing!
