Padawan Aneiki R'hyvar chapter 15 . 8/27/2013
Wow. This is just awesome. :) I am one who, although I am old enough to remember seeing ANH in the theater in 1977, I do love all six movies. Yes, I'm well aware they have their issues. But I love the SW universe nonetheless. I will be looking at more of your SW fic, for sure. :)
Padawan Aneiki R'hyvar chapter 10 . 8/27/2013
LOL again, I am amused with Obi-Wan's dry humor. The brief conversation about flying with R4, and the idea of selling tickets to his next confrontation with Jango... *snerk* :)
Padawan Aneiki R'hyvar chapter 6 . 8/27/2013
LOL Reading my way through this and I *LOVE* this line of Obi's about his 'multiple personalities.' LOL Being the mother of a headstrong teen myself right now...this is perfect. *snerk*
Obiwan456 chapter 15 . 7/18/2010
You would think after watching the movies so many times one would tire of reading about them again, but I'm really enjoying "seeing" these movies again from Obi-Wan's viewpoint. Love the inside glimpses you give us into his mind. Going to read the third one now. ~Obi's Mom
Obiwan456 chapter 14 . 7/17/2010
Wow, that was a powerful chapter. It had so much in it, it's hard to describe without launching into a whole essay about it. One thing I thought about, that I have never thought before, but something in this chapter brought it up in my head, was that, is it possible Anakin ignored Obi-Wan and charged after Dooku the way he did was because he was still angry with Obi-Wan about Padme, and perhaps even placed some of the blame on Dooku for putting them in that situation in the first place..that he was taking his anger out on Dooku in a way? I mean, besides the fact he was arrogant enough to think he could take Dooku, but he was so reckless, it seemed like he was still angry. Just a thought.

I KNEW Obi-Wan would try to feel responsible about all those Jedi dying when they came to rescue him. I know he's trying not to let that get him, but I knew the thought would be there..and it probably didn't make him feel any better when the other Jedi complained about so many Jedi being sent out of one person.

Also the part when he was talking to Obi-Wan about falling to the dark side, Dooku's mass murders, etc. the look Obi-Wan saw in Anakins eyes was about the Tusken raiders he had massacred...that was awesome...theres just too much to this chapter...it may be my fav in this story. A lot of deep thinking here.

Obiwan456 chapter 13 . 7/17/2010
I enjoyed this chapter, and appreciate the "behind the scenes" look at Obi-Wans thinking as he was pleading with Anakin about Padme. Especially when his heart was breaking as he was having to be so stern, I was hoping there might have been a brief flashback to when he had to make the hard choice about Siri years ago, even thought this was exactly the same kind of situation. Nonetheless, this was a good chapter. ~Obi's Mom
Obiwan456 chapter 11 . 7/17/2010
"Shrapnel waiting to happen, "roger, roger" type of droids. I laughed out loud on that one (snort) Obi-Wan just cracks me up! and it's not just your sense of humor, I can really see Obi-Wan thinking like this. I also see his point about the council messing up and sending each Jedi to the wrong part of the mission. Thats so true, when you think about it. Ah, such is the wisdom of councils :)~Obi's Mom
Obiwan456 chapter 9 . 7/17/2010
I liked how you painted the clones in a more sympathetic light. I also enjoyed Obi-Wan's reaction to them. Very good. I wish the movie could have conveyed his emotions better, he looks astonished, and I could see he was puzzled by the whole thing, but thats why I loved reading the books, they could show out what was really going on behind stoic Jedi faces :)~Obi's Mom
Obiwan456 chapter 8 . 7/16/2010
Wow, Obi-Wan is so cynical concerning politians, isn't he..he still doesn't really trust Senator Amidala, but I can't blame him. I've become cynical as well, pretty well not believing anything I hear from politics anymore. I have a favorite joke: How can you tell when a Politian is lying?..He opens his mouth. I enjoyed the scene with Yoda and the children, and the memories they invoked. ~Obi's Mom
Obiwan456 chapter 6 . 7/16/2010
Enjoying the story so far. Love Obi-Wan's ruminations. Love his dry, sarcastic wit (I've said this before, I know, but you are so good at it). His comment about his multiple personality getting help at a discount price cracked me up. He's so critical of himself, but in a funny way. ~Obi's Mom
Eruhin chapter 15 . 6/1/2009
A nice ending of a great story.

I liked especially the last paragraph and the part about war revealing the true nature of beings. And Obi-Wan has nothing to worry about regarding coming into contact with the unadorned truth about himself, unlike some other people…

All in all, this was a really enjoyable fanfic and I thank you for the pleasure that reading it gave me. Good job:)
Eruhin chapter 14 . 5/29/2009
This chapter was so good. I couldn’t stop reading:)

Poor exhausted Obi-Wan, having to battle Dooku all alone, because his incorrigible Padawan once again couldn’t listen to him. I loved the way you described his thoughts and feelings during the duel, especially when he got wounded and waited for Dooku’s killing blow.

I think the comparison to nek dogs fits Obi-Wan and Anakin’s turbulent relationship very nicely. (Apart from that I love all dogs, so any mention of them is welcome;)

Oh, poor Obi-Wan, no wonder he would have preferred if Dooku cut off his arm instead of Anakin’s. Watching a loved one suffer can be far worse than experiencing it oneself, after all.

“It didn’t seem fair that I should have to suffer in the hereafter, too, but it wouldn’t do to question the omniscient and omnipotent Force…” – Obi-Wan is so funny, even when he once again has an enormous headache:)

I loved Obi-Wan’s whole talk with Anakin on the ship, finally they had a proper conversation. They really should do it more often. Still though, I’d prefer Obi-Wan to make less assumptions about what he thinks Anakin is aware of and talk about his thoughts and feelings a bit more, even if he isn’t very skilled at expressing them. After all, Anakin isn’t very skilled at thinking about other people, so maybe it would be better to tell him some things plainly rather than hope that he would figure them out himself.

I liked all the references to past and future events weaved into their talk, like Anakin promising to heed his next vision better, Obi-Wan remembering that he too was once a second too late to save a loved one and worrying about Anakin resenting him for his initial attitude towards him.

It was good to see that Anakin did have some remorse about killing the Sand People. I really felt sorry for him when he tried to find out in a roundabout way if Obi-Wan could forgive him for what he did. He seemed so vulnerable, completely unlike his usual self.

“…while fate might have dragged us together, choice made us friends.” – What a sweet line, I loved it!

I wonder what was in those stim pills that clouded Obi-Wan’s mind so much that he decided to send Anakin to Naboo alone with Padmé again. Maybe Anakin purposefully urged him to take them…;)

Great last line, you have a talent for them, you know:)
Eruhin chapter 13 . 5/22/2009
Wow, this chapter was really intense. You handled the action scenes well, in my opinion, and once again I enjoyed very much the way you depicted Obi-Wan’s state of mind during the battle. I liked especially the moment at the beginning when he longed to help the other Jedi, feeling their anguish, pain or their deaths, but knew he couldn’t do anything, and then the part where he dazedly realized that only twenty Jedi survived. These were really heartwrenching moments.

Obi-Wan’s reflections on warfare were very sensible. He’s right, people who never experienced war often have the tendency to glorify it.

“Padmé,” he yelped, as horrified as a wet behind the ears journalist who had just uncovered that his world’s senator took graft. – Heh, I love Obi-Wan’s metaphors, I really do:)

I liked what Obi-Wan said about doing your duty being most important in the moments when you feel least like it. Qui-Gon said similar thing to him about following the Code when Xanatos kidnapped Bant, I think.

The part where Obi-Wan thought he saw hatred for himself on Anakin’s face was good. Foolish, obstinate kid, when will he grasp that Obi-Wan wants only what’s best for him?

I liked it when Obi-Wan finally admitted he was friends with a politician:) And I liked this line: “However, she had travelled to this horrid planet with the intention of rescuing me when there was no responsibility on her part to do so― which made her a friend, I supposed.”

There was one thing in this chapter I’m rather skeptical of: you said in one place that there were eleven years old Jedi fighting on the arena. Are you sure that so young and inexperienced Padawans would be taken on such a mission? It doesn’t seem very probable to me. Unless the Order was so short of Jedi at the time that they didn’t have much choice.

I noticed one typo: there was a “burrowed” weapon in the paragraph where the acklay attacks Obi-Wan:)
Eruhin chapter 12 . 5/19/2009
I liked the paragraph about evil being like a virus. You’re right, the bad people are never satisfied with just being bad themselves, they have to drag others to evil as well.

Dooku didn’t seriously hope that Obi-Wan would ever join him, did he? He might have not known it, but Obi-Wan’s middle name wasn’t “stubborn” for nothing:)

I liked Obi-Wan’s reflections on death and the fact that even being a Jedi, he isn’t emotionless, but still can’t help but wonder what will it be like to die. He was so calm when he gave up his life in Episode IV, but I guess then he didn’t have to worry what will happen with him after death, because Qui-Gon already told him all about being one with the Force:) I also loved the way Obi-Wan ended his metaphysical musings with a very pragmatic question about what was taking the Geonosians so long:)

I’m glad you made it clear that Obi-Wan didn’t mean that “Good job!” to be so harsh as it might have seem, but that in fact it showed the depth of his concern about Anakin.

I loved that line about Anakin either possessing nerves or brain of durasteel:) Somehow I suspect that the latter was the case…

It was so sweet when Obi-Wan couldn’t believe that Mace Windu led a host of Jedi just to rescue him. He just can’t see that he’s priceless to the galaxy, can he?;)

I loved the ending, Obi-Wan’s foreboding feeling that the Geonosis arena would change them all forever.

You did a really good job with this chapter, especially considering what you said in author’s note. I have but one doubt: in the paragraph where they chain Obi-Wan to that column, you said it was a wooden column, but wasn’t it rather made of some kind of stone?

I noticed also that there is “in reality” repeated twice in paragraph where Obi-Wan says his comment to Anakin showed how much he cared about him, and there is “were” instead of “we” in the last paragraph.
Eruhin chapter 11 . 5/15/2009
I liked the chase scene. For all his grumbling that he hates flying, Obi-Wan is an excellent and bold pilot and it was a pleasure watching him during this scene in the movie.

“Trailing Fett into the asteroid field had been as clever as a carnival sword-swallower upgrading his act to a lightsaber.” – Oh my, this line really had me laughing out loud. I visualized a lightsaber-swallower:)

I liked the way you described Obi-Wan’s painful return to consciousness. He managed to be sarcastic even with a huge headache:) And I liked his remark that the Geonosian dungeon cell wasn’t the worst place he had been kept prisoner in. But it wasn’t the best either, I imagine.

I enjoyed Obi-Wan’s conversation with Dooku. I wonder if it was Dooku’s idea to try to get him to join the Separatists or if Palpatine himself wanted him on his side. After all, it’s understandable that most people would prefer to have an ally in Obi-Wan Kenobi, not a foe:)

I liked Obi-Wan’s reflections on Dooku being Qui-Gon’s Master once. It’s true that they seemed similar mostly on the surface, not at heart. Oh, and you forgot to add to their similarities that they were both unnaturally tall;)
