Wow. I don't even have words to describe how I felt about this story. The whole thing was just so real and so touching, I was eating up the words one chapter after another. And the last chapter, when Sam woke up in hospital with Gene watching over him, tears rolling down his face... I almost cried when Sam closed his eyes and went back to the past, Gene's last kiss before he slipped away. And the part after he and Gene were in the cell together, when Sam thought he'd never see Gene again and I really thought that's what would happen, that they'd never see each other again. I have to say, I never expected everything to go over the way it did in the end, but it really worked out for the best to create an amazing closure. I really wish you would've went a little further with their lives after the escape, but it actually was a great place to end. Nothing is worse than getting really into a story when the author suddenly loses their train of thought, and everything just slacks and ends badly... I should know, I've been that author in a few situations and I've felt horrible about it. So the story actually ended off perfectly, and I loved every bit of it.

Very... strange, surreal, pretty much dystopia... but brilliant writing throughout. Your descriptions and the plot overall were magnificent. I loved the characterisation and your writing style was perfect for this kind of story. Fantastic stuff.

I think your portrayed the characters well, and I liked the moments of consistancy with the TV plotline - like referencing him jumping off the roof.

Also, it would be interesting to read aobut the present day bit as another story - I think you touched on something there :)

Wow! I'm not a massive LoM fan but I absolutely loved this story!

I'd love to read a sequel with Gene in 2006. I think what you briefly touched upon in this chapter could be developed into another story!
