I really love this one shot. I don't get how this is a "Darien doesn't love Serena" when all the fic is about his jealousy and sense of inadequacy. He is obviously destroyed by the possibility that she doesn't love him and blames himself the most if that's the case.

About deserving Serena, helping in save the world is always a thing to up the value points, but had Serena decided to dump him for another guy, in this case Seiya, I wouldn't blame her, Darien lack of romance can be pretty tiring after all.

Again, I loved reading this a lot.

It's so true, though, about anime Mamoru. It had to be said. And in such an excellent, well-written story, too!

By the way, since reading this story, anything I read .. I can't help but think how inadequate Mamoru's love is towards Usagi (though surely it's not and he loves in his own quiet way as I know from experience) in how you've presented it here .. Sigh, definitely need some extreme fluff to counter this!

I loved the starting sentence, there is a man he cannot forgive. (Ah, defnitely Seiya!) Then towards the end you forget that sentence and despite him hating himself, the epiphany only smacks you if you read the last sentence in conclusion. There is a man Darien Shields cannot forgive: (Himself!)

I wasn't going to review but I wanted to comment on how wonderfully well you were able to manipulate me, the reader, with just that one sentence. I can only assume it was your intention and I had to comment that it couldn't have been done better.

wow, i am seriously impressed with this story. i think you have a really good grasp on darien's character. you're right, he really does seem to be the most unstable of the sailor moon characters. it's rare to see his character depicted as anything other than romantic in many fanfics, and i'm happy to say that i found your analysis of their personalities spot on. great job :)

Wow, i was looking for a realistic seiya-serena fic and i found one! I was a bit disappointed when darien didnt even show the least bit of jealousy in sailorstars during the starlights goodbye scene. I felt like he was taking serena for granted or it seemed like he was so sure of her feelings that its impossible for her to fall for someone else. I know serena doesnt see seiya in a romantic light, but this can be a "what if" fic. And i liked how you portrayed the three characters. Its like you understand how their minds can work. Im also IN LOVE with stc. _

wow this story was just so beautifully written! i also believe that darien didn't react the way he should have at the end of episode 200... what was up woth that? i was just wondering which SM AMV's you were talking about, coz you've got me all interested now! do you think you could either llink me to them or give me their exact names, coz i've searched for them and i'm not sure if i found the right ones.. thanx so much! can't wait to read the rest of your stuff!

Amazing... I'm a Serena/Darien shipper through and through, but this was truly a wonderful and, I must say, an entirely realistic and believable piece. I never hated Seiya, quite liked him as a matter of fact, but Darien was always no1 for me. However, I do agree that he should have been shown a bit differently in the anime, not only in Stars, but other seasons too. I just never really had the feeling he loved Serena as much as she did him. Sure, his behavior can be explained in a way, his traumatic childhood, his confusion over the whole destined lovers part (let's not forget he's a doctor/scientist after all), his very personality of a resigned, serious young man and you have composed all of these things in your story perfectly.

Seriously, after this, I can honestly say that I feel with Serena for losing Seiya.

Wow. That was really, really good. So sad though. Poor Darien. I really like how you set it up, with the whole 'a man he will never forgive' and I of course thought it was Seiya. And then I read then fanfic and I still thought it was Seiya. And then you get to the end. And you realize that Darien's actually talking about himself. Very cleverly written. :)
