| Kitty Savella chapter 1 . 2/18/2014 First, the premise of this story was good enough to keep me reading, so that is a plus. However, the spelling and grammar were so bad, I nearly stopped quite a few times. Technically, this story violates the site guidelines for correctness. My recommendation is that you find a beta reader who has substantial writing experience and completely edit this story from beginning to end. The spelling mistakes are only mildly forgivable from someone for whom English is not their first language and the incredibly young. Making mistakes like "stalkings" instead of "stockings", "drilling" instead of "drooling" and "Weaselly" instead of "Weasley" should not happen if proper spelling and grammar checks are made. Other issues that were prevalent were continuity issues with things such as Harry/Hailey's gender and eye color. If I were to give this story an overall rating for compositional strength, it would at best be a three out of five, and at worst a one-point-five. If the mistakes contained within this story were due to age or unfamiliarity with the English language, then more study should be done and others should be used to help polish the work. If not, then a reconsideration of goals may be in order. |
