450 chapters over 9 years? Impressive! I'll take about a week or so to read it...but it's worth it because I love the story already

It seems I finally came to the end of this magnificent, endless tale after years of never quite getting to the end. What a surreal moment. Over the last few months, I have immersed myself in the universe of this story, one that is so vast it is almost a plausible alternate reality. Experiencing their lives has been a wonderful dream, one that makes me think 'If only real life was like that.'

I am a huge fan of psychology, and the fact that it was such a central theme in this story is what kept me reading it. There are huge numbers of lessons to be learned about social interaction, how the world works and why things happen in certain ways. Sometimes it was a little tricky to suspend my disbelief as so many of the characters were so seemingly knowledgable about psychology, which led me to wonder if this was the author's voice coming through. Nevertheless, it was always fascinating to read about.

The other thing I noticed pertains to the story's structure. I thoroughly enjoyed the earlier story arcs because they were so detailed, like little mini-sagas within a much bigger plot. E.g. the first Colwen Grounds trip; the Ran fiasco; the Sorcerer's Retreat; the trip to Ev. And so on. Later on during P&C, the timeline appeared to suddenly speed up, and we had no more than a few small pieces from different parts of their lives. After hundreds of chapters focusing on just 2-3 years, it was startling to suddenly race through the next five or so; though I greatly enjoyed following Lyel's early years. (Damama. Seriously.)

And the ending...well I already talked about it in a previous review, when I accidentally read it before its time. (Sigh.) It continues to break my heart reading it again now. Their lives seemed so timeless...and that last chapter forced the realisation that it all comes to an end eventually, just like this story finally ran out of chapters.

I will honestly miss this fanfic so much.

Well after all these years and all these words your Gelphie universe, my happy place, has come to its end. I can’t thank you enough for devoting so many years of your life writing it, it has helped me so much along the way when the real universe was not my happy place. And it has come through again. And it will be here for me to jump back into and reread my favorite parts when needed. Thank you again, and I will start reading Life with Lyel in the near future!

This morning, I accidentally clicked to the last chapter. I tried not to look but couldn't seem to stay away. Having read it, I now slightly regret doing so because now as I continue to read this story, it is through a slightly tinted lens, knowing what will eventually come at the end. It feels really sad, knowing that even the hundreds of chapters eventually run out. That there is an end. That I can no longer imagine Elphie and Glinda as being these timeless creatures whose lives just go on forever. I don't know what to make of it, but I still love the story and will still be reading it, and maybe this time I'll even finish it properly.

Hey there! I stopped reading this story, my favorite story ever, my happy place at a time when I really needed one, when my life got extremely busy. Well needless to say that busy life has now come to a screeching halt thanks to Covid-19 and the need for my happy place is back in full force. It took me a bit of searching but I found where I left off and have just read the last few chapters about Elphie finishing her thesises and defenses. And this last chapter, Glinda and Elphie explaining to Bri and Shell how Elphie has to choose to risk loving Glinda or stay safe and alone, what memories that brought back! Ironically returning to my happy place made me cry the whole time, but it’s very cathartic. I really have missed this universe so much. I often thought about it over the couple of years I stopped reading. I am really going to enjoy re-immersing myself in this story and reading the last 100 or whatever chapters. Thank you so much for the great gift of this trilogy, it means a lot to me and many others.

I remember being a freshman high school when I first started reading, now I’m a semester away from graduating college. Time is crazy. I’ll say I was not prepared to read the end so I waited awhile and prepped myself and finally got to that point tonight. It was wonderful and I cried a lot! Wow! Congratulations on finishing. I know you said that you've known how it would end and that it was going to end, but after more than a decade it's still a bit surreal. Do you miss it now that it's done, or not so much because you have the Life with Lyel series to work with when the mood strikes?

Anyway, I was glad to see Shell happily married, and what a beautiful exchange of gifts by the bride/groom. He was such a little kid when the story started, and now he's all grown up! It's somehow even more noticeable with him than with Glinda/Elphie since they were already in their late teens and away at school when they met.

And I did love the ending with the Governor honoring her ancestors and passing on the story of as long as love lives.

Thanks again for this bit of life you've shared with me and your other readers over the years.

Wow. Just... wow!

This was a beautiful ending. It really tied everything together. I'm glad everyone came back together, and I know everyone was welcoming Glinda with open arms. I loved this beautiful story so much, and although I'm very sad to see it go, I can't wait to see all the in-between scenes in 'Life with Lyel'. This was a crazy emotional roller coaster, and I'm glad I could come along for the ride. I applaud you for keeping this series up and going since 2006, and this particular story since 2008.
