Reviews for Alone
AbyssalDaemon chapter 1 . 7/13/2010
Nice story. I liked your focus here on Danette, she gets bashed so often that people seem to forget how important she is too the main character.
Tsakhi chapter 1 . 3/1/2010
There are no words to describe how awesome this is. I mean, you have a homicidal maniac, manifesting a world of loneliness and solitude from their actions. A friendship built on the rock of love. Death can't keep friends apart, and that's what I liked so much about this story: that message. It makes me respect my friends all the more, now. Ah, yes, the Demon Path. We all will eventually take it. Maybe. (Or I could just snag Vitali and make him cook for me a in a dress. oh.) But, seriously, this is a damn good story. Favoriting it. _
frik1000 chapter 1 . 4/17/2009
This was so sweet. It was epic. It was the first fic that I saw that wasn't a GigXFemale-Revya. Honestly this is actually my preferred ending in the game. I just find the whole best friends to lovers thing really sweet.
Jefepato chapter 1 . 12/9/2008
I just finished Soul Nomad, and came here looking for...pretty much exactly this. My only real complaint about the demon path was that we just didn't get to see much reaction from the main character him/herself, and it's nice to see some exploration of the whole mess from his/her point of view, especially of his final fate trapped with Danette.

For some reason, I found the demon path's good ending far happier than the main path's ending. Maybe there's something wrong with me.
Milonar chapter 1 . 10/31/2008
Very nice . Although I don't like Danette . She's really annoying !
XxXTwilight-SinXxX chapter 1 . 10/16/2008
*sniff* that was beautiful, I got weepy eyed at the end. I loved how you didn't give Revya a gender. I really hope to see more stuff from you later on. Good luck!
Tuume chapter 1 . 10/15/2008
Beautiful. nothing short of poetic and beautiful. The history, the emotions, all were perfect. I loved how you portrayed and wrote the characters. Great job.
Rayless Night chapter 1 . 10/14/2008
Wow...this is beautiful. You really captured one aspect I loved about the Demon Path's defeated ending - how it brings Revya back to the starting point, to the person who cares about him/her so completely.

As far as criticisms go, I always try to include them in my reviews, but I don't have many complaints here.

There are some typos ("I float[ed] in a universe of shadow"; "with the purist clarity" should be "purest"; "loneliness to[o] great to bear").

I felt at the beginning the merge between Revya being simply annoyed to murderous was too sudden. Maybe some foreshadowing in the first section, or a clearer idea of what makes him/her snap.

That's over with, so back to the praise.

I'm impressed with your prose - it's very clear, concise and assured. You handle imagery well, never piling on too much.

Characterization is wonderful here. I like how you wrote a demon path fic that was centered on Revya and Danette, not on Revya and Gig. Your take on Revya is in-line with the little the game gives and adds some interesting twists (especially Revya's thoughts on his/her early friendship with Danette). Even after everything the Devourlord did, the reunion with Danette is believable, effective, and unsentimentalized. I love how there were no actual tears.

I also like how you kept Revya's gender ambiguous without it coming across as awkward.

This is some excellent writing.
