Wow this is incredible. I am so happy I stumbled on this fic. This is pretty much canon to me

For the deeply HHr person in me I find this disturbing, disgusting, terrible and many other bad words that I cannot think of at the moment. It makes the horrible book epilogue somewhat more palatable. It helps to explain the looks in the movie. But I hate it anyway. For the Harry Potter reader in here with me, this little story is simply brilliant. To think that Harry might not want to know if Hermione feels like he does it so hard. Knowing that Hermione is hurting also, if not perhaps for the same reason, then for Harry's apparent abandonment is so sad too.
A sequel to bring them back together as at least friends would be good. Or maybe to find out what really happens at the end of the next seventy years.
BTW, the last paragraph is so "Harry" to me. You've captured this facet of how I imagine him very well. Please keep writing.

F**king soul crushing wow. The characterizations were so on point. The way everything was set up almost felt like reading the book. And their dynamic was just how much I envisioned it. Harry avoiding Hermione as much as possible until she eventually stops trying to keep their friendship alive. There's a lot of evidence in the books itself that he would do this; like when Hermione follows him into the room after he finds out he's not prefect and for some reason he doesn't want to look at her. Or the look of sensitivity on her face when she's looking at Ron in DH making him want to turn away.

Anyway I digress. This was stunning and heartbreaking.

It is so hard sometimes to find a decently written story among the millions that exist in FF. Finding a gem like this one is always a pleasure. I hope you continue to write more stories. :-)

I recently had the opportunity to come across this story and I thoroughly enjoyed it-even if it breaks my h/hr heart. I noticed that you said you'd make a sequel if people were up to reading it-but I think perhaps this same story, told through the voice/eyes of Hermione would be satisfying enough. ).

Lovely! I cannot say enough in its praise. Normally I prefer a longer story but you expertly captured his emotions here.

Great job on your story! It was one of the best well-written explanations about the coldness of Harry and Hermione's relationship in the Epilogue. Keep it up! :)

What a sad premise, but it actually makes the god-awful epilogue more believable. I always did wonder why Harry and Hermione didn't speak to each other in the epilogue and your theory is very touching if not a bit tragic. I'm interested in knowing Hermione's point of view in the whole ordeal and why she just gave up. Great job!

Oh you have to do a fallow up I just love this kind of story and you develop the whole "hidden love" plot very well

Ah, what a downer, but magnificent angst. It's really sad to think that, in a canon-compliant world, this really could have ended up happening.

One word poignant, It makes sense in the context of the awful epilogue.

It would be interesting to see Hermione's point of view.

A very nice short with out the use of much dialogue.
