Lovely, wonderful story! Great idea of bringing in the whole group of hunters that we've heard about and put them in a very realistic situation which gave us some more insight into the lives that the boys and John lived. Love your young Sam and Dean, you do a great job of writing them and of course I love your John. This subject was perfect since I'm watching fireflies in my yard as I write this! I'm so glad I've discovered you and your stories. Thanks so much for sharing them with all of us.

That was very nice. Tender and well-rounded, and a John and young Dean I can both see and love. Interesting MotW, too. And I like how you brought up Sam's difference without making a big issue out of it. It was all just...nicely balanced.

Wonderful ending! I thoroughly enjoyed each and every chapter! I'm glad that Dean and John were there for Sam when he needed them the most.

I love how you portrayed John in your story, a caring father in a tough situation. That's how I picture him, not the mean drunk that some people write about. I'm glad that he was quick to reassure Dean he was not to blame for what happened to Sam.

I loved Dean halping Sam get over his fears at the end with a jar of fireflies. It might not be the end of Sam's fears for a while, but it's a good start!

Awesome ending to your story Laynee. i love the fact that you didn't just glance over Sammy' fear and that Dean was able to find a way to circumvent it.

Bill had me worried there for a minute when he talked to John about Sammy being special-thank goodness tho it was as a father and not a hunter-things could have gotten really tense then!

Loved the scene at the beginning with John and Dean. Poor eleven yr old Dean with so much guilt and responsibilty on his shoulders, Im glad that you had John absolve him of the blame and admit that he is the one that should have been watching Sam. I like your John. Its a balanced, reasonable depiction. Not the evil John that some writers like to portray. Nicely done.

I love this part:

Jim rested his hand on John’s shoulder. “You did good, John.”

“He shouldn’t have been taken.” His voice was gritty with fatigue.

“As much as you try, you can’t protect them from everything, but you do a damn good job.”

John laughed. “Keep using language like that, and you’ll have to see your self in confession.”

“Surely an influence of my friends.”

John let the smile fade from his face. He wanted to see his boys, wanted to see for himself that Sam was all right; maybe then some of the guilt would ease away, maybe.

Just typical the dearg-dul taking its last opportunity to taunt John about Sammy being special and that he'd never tasted anything as good as him. Will the others latch on to what it was saying or just keep quiet?

Hope Sammy will recover from the bites, four of them certainly meant it had a good feed, will the effects just wear off or have to be reversed? And Dean was also worried enough to be relieved when Ellen and Jo returned to sit with them.

Fantastic chapter. At least John and the others have taken care of the creature. Now to get Sammy through the nightmares that are sure to come after what he's been through.

Another great chapter! I too like the supernatural creature you have chosen. It is different from anything in other stories I have read. I love all the family, both related & unrelated, coming together in their concern for our little Sammy. I would like to know how the Dearg-dul is taken care of too. Looking forward to the next update!
