Honestly? This kind of tragic, traumatising scene is how I pictured Jet's experience with the burning of his town, too. Giving his parents faces and personalities only makes the cruel fact of the matter hit harder. You nailed it.

poor little 8 year old jet *sniffs* too young to be traumatized. too bad he becomes a jerk in book 1 though...

This is a great story, and really needs more attention.

With this kind of past, I can't help but think that, maybe, it is only right for him to act and think of the Fire Nation the way he does. Makes me think that he has every right to do so, y'know?

I really liked the background you developed for Jet. It makes one feel more empathy for Jet. The end leaves you knowing where its going to lead, a finality I guess.

That was really very sad. I liked how you portray a young Jet, and I like how you portrayed his parents. It all makes sense.
