Miribai chapter 6 . 10/15/2014 I am very very late to your party, but I, as a sci-fi loving whovian black lady, THANK YOU for not lampshading or forgetting the fact that Martha is a black lady time travelling to times and places were black women just were not. It's a breath of fresh air to read someone's work who is aware of the implications but doesn't forget nor dwell upon them. Thank you. Your work is beautiful and it quite literally sometimes gets me through my day. You are the standard by which all other Ten/Martha should be (and is for me) judged...as there is not a lot out there. :( |

QTFics chapter 20 . 2/10/2011 Woo! I was tensed until the end. Great story! |
PhoenixWytch chapter 20 . 9/26/2009 Martha's okay! :does a happy dance: Just one question. What happens with the security guard? He doesn't lose his job or anything does he? Thanks for writing. |
Abstruse fangirl chapter 20 . 8/28/2009 Another lovely story, with a very lovely ending. I particularly enjoyed seeing a person just accept time travel, dimensionally-transcendent space ships, and a colleague coming down with bubonic plague. All because of that incident on the moon. Very well done! :) |
Naomitrekkie chapter 20 . 7/16/2009 Probably so his plan wouldn't be obvious. ;) And once again, humanity saves the day through the power of thought! Better not let them know, 'cause it might just go to their heads (some people's, anyway). And having everyone love the Doctor? What a side effect! Though, it did come in handy! And to think, Jack thought up this plan. Figures it would involve his death. It was a really creative plan, I found it extremely clever and brilliant. Let's just hope the Doctor never goes back to 1350. He may love Martha, but I'm not sure his ego would come back without having grown from the all-it-could-eat buffet. :D. I guess we should just be glad Martha wasn't in love with Jack. We know how he would have responded. ;) I really liked the anti-humans. Their plot might not have been the most original, but it was still a good one. I love when Who gives alien explanations to major historical events and other such things (like in the werewolf episode). I love those little details the most about Who (well, maybe not the most) and I love how you've included them so well. Me? I pretty much stink at history and probably would never be able to write a believable historically set story (not before killing myself for all the research I'd have to do), and so I must applaud (sp?) you on this job well done. At first, I thought the anti-humans would only respond to unplanned thoughts, which was why Jack couldn't dissuade them, but your explanation about their will being too strong was ingenius! I figured Jack's atempt would be too easy, but I love how your explanation, while simple (that's not a bad thing), makes sense. Stuff that makes sense is usually best. Ooh, and a lot of times, in the co from room before the Doctor hopped them to the execution and the anti-human's leader (I'm sorry I don't include the names but I know I'd spell them wrong) went on and on, at times, it seemed like he was consciously aware of Jack's thoughts, what with some of his replies. While I know they were only subconscious, that creepied me out (but not in a bad way, not really). Oh, know what esle I liked? The whole terrorism business. You're either a Doctor or extremly well researched, 'cause you've got all these little details, details only someone deeply knowledgable would know to include (I for one, would not have had a clue; I wouldn't have even known what drugs were needed). But that's a good thing, being well researched. It makes things real, and you did a stellar job. Kudos! So, to sum up, I loved the fic. You're an amazing writer. :D |
timano chapter 20 . 4/22/2009 A superb story, with a clever ending! (I honestly enjoyed the character of Mr. Hodgekins, and hope he'll be back in your future stories.) At least 10 out of 10 stars! BTW, I'm not sure if you knew this, but the Doctor has cured the Black Plague before, in the Third Doctor story, DOCTOR WHO AND THE SILURIANS. It's one of the best serials in the 1963-1989 version of the series, and introduces the Silurians. If you revise this story anytime, you could insert a line about the Doctor wishing he remembered how he cured it before-what the exact formula was of the serum he used, I mean. Just a thought. I really enjoyed your story as it stands, though, and look forward to future stories you write. |
