Having John compared to Gordan and seeing the difference on how the hunt turn out was great. I am dying to see how things will continue to diverge.

I really hope you post more of this soon. It's a great idea, and you're doing a good job with it. I'm really interested to see how they do without Dean (and more importantly, for Dean to see it).

Well, I know this one's been itching to be written for a while now. I'm glad you're finally posting it. Keep writing; I'll keep reading. :)

I toyed around with writing something similar to this but I never could really work on it with the other fics I was working on at a time. And I'm sort of glad I haven't yet, because I get to look at this without comparing. This is fantastic, I love the strength (or weakness) that you've given Sam in all of this and the line "It's weird. When he's with me, he acts so much like Dad. With Dad, he acts like me. No wonder the kid is so confused all the time," is priceless. I think the portrayal as John works, I suppose, but me being of the camp that John is actually more of a fallable and more tender moments of his in the Season 2 premiere makes me want to think he wouldn't be as "heartless" as he seems to Sam. Maybe Sam's just too pigheaded to notice ;)
