Is this where "the wolf howling at the moon" for Renji comes in? Ignore me and my budding shipper heart. I think I love how Rukia juxtaposes Kaien on Ichigo but hates it when he becomes a bit too close, a little too close from the original and that just won't do. She likes this Not-Kaien but still similar enough to admire on her own vantage point.

Like Rukia's internal dialogue here (and the occasional dips into stream-of-consciousness work well). She sounds like what I imagine Rukia to be like. Dark, filled with self-blame and lots of unexpressed emotions.

On the ships: To be honest, I find Rukia a lot more interesting a character than Ichigo or Orihime, so much as I'm a sucker for romance of the ichiruki variety, I agree that Ichi-hime seems more likely and happy to see exploration of what that means for Rukia, who is neither oblivious nor stupid.

when the anime started i dint like orihime. and i certainly did not hope for ichigo n rukia to end up together. it's a action/funny/goodlooking characters anime at best. but the way the story progress really made me turn into an ichihime shipper.

but kaien.. isnt he just rukia's crush? (i'm prefer rukiarenji)
