Wow this was really sad! I never even thought about the fact that John had no way of knowing whether or not Dean was actually dead. I really enjoyed the read!

I loved this story - a nice character study. I love John but I don't like him much and Dean's reaction felt very true to his nature.

i dont get john. i mean he obviously loves dean, afterall he did sell his sole for his son, but sometimes its just really infuriating. it's completely unfair to dean, and you just feel like choking john for what he's done.

I liked this. It was very sad, but I think it was an accurate portrayal of Dean's inner struggle... Good job!

One small thing though, you have "The man has been identified as Dean Winchester, from Lawrence, Texas..." and the boys are from Kansas. No big deal, I didn't even notice it until the second time through.

This is one of many times where I really felt an overwhelming need to kick John Winchester's butt. Calling your son to even just leave a message to see how he is doing will not tip off the Demon and "unveil" all your plans. A credit to your writing to elicit such a visceral response. More please.
