I like how you keep the interactions between Light and L just a little above shouen-ai, so that both lovers and dis-likers of LxLight can read it. (Personally, I'm a total LxLight shipper. Don't judge me.)

P.S: I loved the part where L put a sugar-cube in Lights' mouth to quiet him. I could almost see him actually doing that. XD

I really like this story. As with "Bones," your descriptions give the reader a vivid mental image of what's going on in the story. I especially like the descriptions of how L eats the sugar cubes. The ending was really sweet. Also, I found Light's annoyance at L saying "ninjas" instead of "ninja" amusing, because I'm pretty sure I've made that exact same mistake!

At the part in the middle where Light goes ballistic, my first thought was that it seemed kind of OOC for Light to lose his cool like that, particularly in front of someone that he knows suspects him of being Kira. But the fact that he's sleep-deprived is a perfectly good explanation, since many people say or do things they normally wouldn't when they're in that state.

Great job with this story! (Oh, and as a Naruto fan, I definitely have to side with ninja. :) )

I like it. And I like the idea of L being able to just be Light's friend... sorry if you're a yoai fan, but here's my look at it:

L is a socially-inept person. There's no getting around that. He wasn't around humans at all during his life. Yes, he's been in "contact" with them through the computer, and you could say he's got friends such as Watari, but he is utterly inept when in comes to perceiving what a normal person would do in such a situation such as this. This chapter should be viewed as friendship because...

I think you were pretty much spot-on with the characterizations, and... by golly, the pirates vs. ninja debate is just awesome for Light and L to even be discussing.

And I think it's only fair that L prefers pirates-his voice actor is Kappei after all-one of the main characters in One Piece is also played by Kappei. ;

Anyway, great job! I love it! And the ending gives me the warm fuzzies.
