Reviews for Ten Minutes
Gordon's Drawers chapter 6 . 1/25/2018
Sad that Bruce had to betray her faith in the last moments of her life, but Rachel was really cool.

Your writing is gorgeous, just so you know. Well, I guess you already do; I'm telling you anyway. If you ever come back to this website, here's a message waiting for you - you're awesome
WonderLost chapter 5 . 2/26/2012
let me just start by pointing out that i'm definitely not Rachel's biggest fan. after being used to Selina Kyle and Talia Al Ghul, Rachel was a little too damsel-in-distress for me, a little too Mary-Sue ish in my mind's eye and i must admit that i wasn't extremely excited for your story when i started reading it.

your surprised mw though. and pleasantly so.

you gave dephts to Rachel that should have been explored in the movies. you gave us the real dilemna that she was going through, not the dark or white knight cliche thing that was going on in the movies. (dont get me wrong. i adore the movies but Rachel really put a damper on things sometimes)

the final conflict was beautiful. how she spent the night with Bruce and then thought he was just a manipulative bastard and then how she believes he actually did the right thing at the end when he actually just wanted to save her. the last lines shocked me. not in a omg wtf kind of way. more in a "gosh...omh...noeeeessss" kind of way. if that makes sense. anyway, it was brilliantly written and i thank you for making me see Rachel differently.

this was an amazing story. you write beautifuly :)
the organic stapler chapter 5 . 3/27/2010
Fantastic story.

Made me feel like I understood the character of Rachel Dawes much better after I had read it. Before, she was largely one-dimensional, and not particularly likable.

Even though I find Bruce to be a great deal more appealing than Harvey, I can almost see why Rachel chose Harvey.

It seems to be out of desperation; she couldn't have Bruce, so she needed to find someone who was essentially the anti-Bruce.

Love that her last thought is for him anyway.
Lorien Urbani chapter 6 . 1/30/2010
This story was absolutely beautiful and powerful. Your construction of Rachel's character and her thoughts was wonderful and very realistic. A very deep insight into her mind, beautifully written out. The last chapter kept me staring at my computer screen for a minute, honestly, just thinking and feeling. You left an impression with this story. Great job!
Mariagoner chapter 6 . 3/9/2009
This was really terrific and a wonderfl summation of Rachel. Fantastic job!
BlessedMay chapter 6 . 2/19/2009
That was heart breaking. The girl deserved a happy ending and she couldn't get it... gah so tragic! And I loved it...

i'm going into more detail, expect a pm :)
LA Knight chapter 1 . 9/27/2008
I like this. It's sad, but at the same time, it like... pierces, you know?

I'm favoriting this.
Larawest chapter 5 . 9/20/2008
wow... good job. I love it
Duck Goddess chapter 5 . 9/12/2008
Wow, this is such a beautiful story! I love the non-linear narrative structure and the characterisations of all the characters are perfect; I can't really say much else because everything is so good! Well done!
Freebooter 4Ever chapter 2 . 9/3/2008
Wow! You took Rachel's character and gave her depth and emotion I couldn't have imagined her having in the movies! Rachel mostly annoyed me in Batman Begins and her one saving grace in Dark Knight was that she and Harvey were extremely cute together. And here you have her entire reasoning behind disapproving of Batman and not being with Bruce throughly explained. Amazing! The movie Rachel may be nothing more than a silly love interest, but this Rachel feels real.

The only issue I have is where you compare Harvey to Bruce. Personally, I think part of Batman's appeal is that he is human, without any superpowers. Bruce/Batman often is honest/kind/humorous/driven, especially around people who know both identities...which actually narrows the list down to Alfred usually. :D But Alfred counts!
Lemondrop xxx chapter 5 . 9/2/2008
What a lovely, amazing story. Finding some good quality BB fics is quite difficult on . Ten Minutes provided both a wonderful insight into Rachel in DK, but also a suberb character study of her internal workings. She's -is- woefully underappreaciated. But I attribute that mainly to the Katie Homles as Rachel than anything else. Maggie Gyllenhaal brings quality to her character that I can both identify with and love. I hope to see more of her in fanfiction, but I don't think she's easy to write by any means. Which makes this fic such a wonderful masterpiece. Your tone was realistic, and appropriate and the conflict you conjured about Bruce and Harvey was fantasitc. You really did justice to her. Loved the hints and foreshadowing with the Joker and Anna, it kept it intresting but didn't make it at all unrealistic to think that the conversations might have happened without Rachel being suspicious. My favourite chapters would have to be the first and second.

A job well done,

Lemondrop.

P.S I've written a post-DK that is based on the triumvirate of the movie. I'd appreciate you have a read, especially if you like the darker toned works. It's a little less 'skillfully' angsty, but in my defense I did write most of it without caffine at one in the morning. I feel so cheap asking you read my story. Sorry if it annoys you. I hate it when people do that to me, but you did ask in the note at the end.
Twinings chapter 5 . 8/23/2008
Oh, GOD. If she had been written like this, I wouldn't have hated Rachel at all. Beautifully written. I love seeing a little personality injected into what was originally a poorly acted Mary Sue. And I love the interweaving of the two story threads, the contrast between the tense now and the lyrical then. Nonlinear storytelling at its finest!
