What a helluva ride! I enjoyed every moment and every word of this story and the journey that Gene and Alex went on as individuals and as a couple. This was full of a good mix of action and plot and character development and quiet moments and just everything! Thank you so much for writing and sharing this awesome story!

I just love this story so much! The amount of growth that both Gene and Alex have displayed as individuals and as a couple is amazing to think about when you realize where they first started. He is thoughtful and gentle and considerate and loving and tender etc. They used to yell and stomp off away from each other but they’ve learned to be supportive and communicate and even when one or the other needs time to process something that’s happened, they explain that instead of just sulking off and not saying anything. I love how you’ve woven their amazing relationship journey into this story where they’re also dealing with all the crazy work stuff. I’ve been having a difficult time falling asleep at night and your story has been a good companion piece while I try and knock off.

It’s amazing how much Gene has grown and how thoughtful and caring he is towards Alex and how deep his love for her is. He’d clearly move heaven and earth for her if he could to make her happy. And Ros is just a lovely addition being a guiding light to help Gene navigate. Loving this so much!

For half a second I thought Gene was there with that annoying secretary what’s her face that he shagged early on in this story. So I was so relieved that he took Ros to dinner. Hopefully she’ll set him right. He needs a tough ol bird to set him straight.

I’m glad Alex said this: "No, it doesn't bother me at all. We're different. So what. We're the same in a thousand other ways, too. That's what matters. The fact that we're good together. That we love each other"

I think Gene needed to hear this because he seems to only focus on their differences when they do in fact have so many similarities. They may come from different sides of the tracks, but deep down they want the same things - to keep the streets clean of scum, do good etc.

Such a good chapter! Gene needed the reassurance thst she was okay and he’s so soft and gentle and tender with her. It’s lovely to see especially when he’s normally so brash and rough. Hopefully now they can start to repair their relationship.

It’s so obvious to everyone around them and it’s even so obvious to themselves that they are both miserable apart. It sucks that Alex had to deal with a major trauma for them to breach the divide, but hopefully they can have an honest conversation and land on the same page.

This is so intense! I can’t read the chapters quick enough to figure out what’s happening next. Hopefully Alex doesn’t go through too much hardship before Gene comes to her rescue.

Ooof this sounds so final...: He let her hand go. "I'm going home now. I can't do this any more… any of it."

I’m glad Gene shared with Alex why he hates Rebecca. And it’s a totally legitimate reason. And he’s grown so much as a person if he’s willing to put that aside and go with Alex to the party. I just hope all goes well...

Woah! That was intense! I’m glad that Gene was remorseful and apologized for now rough he was with Alex. I think it’s important that he acknowledges that it was wrong and important for Alex to admit the same.

I feel trouble brewing and that makes me nervous...

A rough start for them, but I’m glad they put their differences aside so they could finally admit their feelings for each other.

It’s so obvious to everyone around them except for those two knuckleheads how much they love each other. Thank goodness the cabbie found Gene’s jacket and brought it back to Alex. Hopefully she can finally put it all to rights with Gene.
