He says he's not in love, but he totally is, and Dan can totally tell. While I view their relationship as kind of one sided in canon, I don't think anyone (even someone as nice-natured as Dan) would stick around with someone who doesn't care for them at all. I adore the way Dan is portrayed, though, as someone who's strong and not at all weepy or uke-ish.
