Having watched LOM and A2A during lockdown I was left bereft and shattered after the ending. Then I discovered fan fiction and then I discovered your story, or should I say book! It was everything I dreamed of and more. The greatest fanfic of all time. Read twice over a week. Dogs left unfed, children neglected, next to no sleep, so aborbed was I. You have an incredible talent and though I am late to the party I hope you will see this comment to know how much your story meant to me. I have never reviewed a story before but yours was so perfect I couldn't help but express my gratitude. Thanks and please don't ever stop writing. You're a legend!

Reread this compulsively over the last week - I still remember looking forward to updates as a teenager and reading under the desk in physics! It has been a real treat to rediscover it as an adult and I'm newly in awe of the way in which you handled multiple nuanced plot threads, the depths of careful research you obviously put in, all while keeping the cast of familiar characters in-character even as you pushed their development and growth forward.

Thank you for writing such a wonderful story! This is definitely one of the best fanfics that I have ever read. So many brilliant details, characters and plot twists. And Gene and Alex being so ... themselves, arguing endlessly, misunderstanding each others feelings and generally making a mess of everything. I loved the idea of Alex returning to 2008 to say goodbye to Molly - giving Alex finally peace of mind and chance to love Gene without feeling guilty. And that ring-shaped mark in her finger - it was just beautiful. And Genes tattoo. And Cruickshank (where in earth did you find such a name?) being in love with Alex and Gene being jealous. And Jaspan and Cruickshank being from the future, too. Actually, I loved everything in this story! Hope that you will write a new one someday.

Wow. Reading it took me three days, but it was worth it. This was a long, epic and brilliant piece of writing. The whole case was awesomely staged and planned. Kudos! And I was also surprised to see that you wrote it having seen only series 1 - and yet you picked up on the fact that only coppers end up in this world, that there might be others but they forgot because they've been here too long...and the look of understanding in Brian's eyes when he looks at Gene could be interpreted according to canon. Bloody brilliant. Thank you for writing!

Fab story. Very believable characters and well tackled issues. I have read this straight through pausing for a few hours sleep at about 3.00 am.

It's hard to believe you wrote that after first series as it held up to scrutiny of the next two series without falling out of character. You really got the story right.

Oh goodness! I just read this entire fic over the past three days or so, and I absolutely *loved* it. It was relentlessly entertaining, carefully thought out, and basically just all-around fabulous!

I'm new to the Ashes fandom, so I'm currently making my way through a lot of fanworks. I have to say, this story contains the best characterizations I've come across so far. Perfect IC dialogue of which I'm so jealous- because I know if I ever tried to write Ashes fic I could never *ever* come close to doing it as well. ;)

The thing that really impressed me the most about this story was the tremendous detail throughout. You seem to have a real flair for description- geography, scene-building, and original characters that really came to life for me.

Not to mention, the way you built the relationship between Alex and Gene? Me gusta. It was sweet torture at times, the way you let them get so close and then knocked them back beyond square one... attract and repel. It made the conclusion just that much more satisfying in the end.

And that's it! I could ramble on even more- with the delicious length of this story, extra praise would be warranted- but I think you get the point. Totally adored it. End of story!

I read this story over the space of 2 days and fell completely in love with it. I love the way that you write and I am looking forward to reading some of your other things! Chapter 37 made me cry, I don't know whether it was because I am frankly sad, but it was AMAZING! Sequel maybe?

Wow I've just spent the past 2 days in my sick bed absolutely hooked reading this story from start to finish it's fantastic you got the characters spot on and loved the way it all tied up at the end and Galex got their happy ending. Was sad about what happened to Brian C and would love you to do a spin off to see if he found Molly and Jaspen back in the present day...

I've loved all your Ashes stories, Lucida. They're really well written and I especially like how you keep the background details the same in each one - ie Gene's ex wife and Carol at the station etc. They're romantic and passionate, without being cloying. I hope you keep writing more for Ashes, I'll be looking forward to reading more. I also enjoyed Ticking Away and Glorious as well. The lovely Mack deserved some happiness!
