Reviews for The Last Night
Bones2014 chapter 1 . 4/24/2016
And, wow, do I love the few changes you made, giving us a whole new direction for this episode to take. If only! Then we could have skipped the end of season 5 & the first half of season 6. Truly loved this. And still amazed at how true to character that you write these two.
Katydid43 chapter 1 . 1/3/2010
Again, very well done! I enjoyed this sequel. The Baby in the Bough is one of my favorite episodes. I would probably put it in my top 10. They are so cute, and throwing on a small child into the midst of that cuteness just made them all the cuter! LOL.

Still working at it. I will get them all read eventually :-)

that was good
blaineanderson chapter 1 . 3/14/2009
Booth scooped up a little taste of vanilla ice cream from Brennan’s bowl and offered it to Andy. The baby opened his mouth widely for the bite, then his face scrunched as the cold hit his tongue.

“O, I don’t think he likes it Booth.”

“Too cold buddy?” Booth laughed. “I can’t believe with all the choices they have, you got vanilla, Bones.”

*

That little moment right there that you created- with just the three of them? So perfect. It painted such a heartwarming and vivid picture in my mind, while perfectly capturing how the three of them just "fit".

Thank you for writing, and I apologize for the really, really late review. :(
Tom's GG chapter 1 . 9/2/2008
*Big Dramatic Sigh*

Oh Space~

That was so sad and yet so sweet. I just loved it! This was a great episode, and you're right... it just needed a bit of 'tweaking'!

Loved this:

"Whether it was an agreement to his statement or an answer to a question yet un-asked, neither knew. But when she began to lean in to him, he didn’t hesitate to meet her halfway. And when their lips finally met in that un-witnessed, un-coerced, steamboat-less kiss, mistletoe, puckish prosecutors and brothers were the furthest things from their minds...

And yes, it was intense, but most of all it was in-tune. He moved left, she moved right. Tongues didn’t so much duel as dance. An expected alpha-male and female competition was more of a completion."

*Another Sigh*

Loved it... and you!

I like the way you started this fic – you can feel how sad Brennan is. She’s tracking Andy's exact age, she’s remembering what it was like to have him, she’s regretting how they parted. She really misses him and it comes through clearly even though you don’t outright state it.

'Love Potion' ice cream? Now that’s funny! And Booth’s attitude over it was quite funny too. Nice interaction between B&B over it as well, with some great tension simmering just below the surface.

For this second night, they’ve got their routine down pat and are totally behaving as if this is status quo for them. They both have to be noticing this and thinking about possibilities.

And then Booth actually comes out and says it: “I think I may have a thing for you.” Whoa. Go Booth! And good for Brennan for not running for the hills in a panic. She’s honest that she doesn’t know what she’s feeling and that’s a start. But she can admit that something has changed.

And that kiss…wow! The way you described it as ‘in-tune’ and ‘An expected alpha-male and female competition was more of a completion’ was just perfect. It’s a natural end point to where they’ve been headed. As you put it: ‘Every moment led them to here.’ So true. Very nicely put.

Breaking this scene to revisit her lack of willingness to leave him at the trailer worked well and help to solidify their bond, their connection. And for one last night, the three of them sleep together in Brennan’s apartment, for one last night as a ‘family’.

And once they give the baby back, both of them are feeling like a piece of them is being taken away. But Booth knows Brennan well enough to know that she hole up on her own if given the chance, so he’s smart and draws her out.

I love the flashback section, loved that she took pictures of them and that Booth played along with it. Her doubts that rise at that point seem very in character as the Brennan we’ve known through S1 and S2 comes through…the Brennan who never wanted kids. But she puts it away…for now. But it comes back, as if it’s just been simmering below the surface since then, at the end of the fic in the SUV. And I like how you changed the end of that scene, just a bit, still shutting Booth up but folding your version of the events into the canon we knew. That was nicely woven together.

Thanks for finishing this piece off. But now dare I say it…is there a missing M chapter to follow this one? I'm thinking YES! :) ::running and ducking::

Damn you, Space! *shakes fist at the sky*

You stole my kiss. Yes, thievery of the most vile degree. ;-p I'm doing the kiss instead of the pacifier moment too. Cute minds, huh? *giggle*

**The baby opened his mouth widely for the bite, then his face scrunched as the cold hit his tongue.

Cutest baby image ever!

Awesome job with the couch kissies! *butterflies swarm in mass*

Oh, and I loved this line...

**An expected alpha-male and female competition was more of a completion.

Beautiful.

I also loved how you addressed the "Promise me" moment.

I liked this, very cute. Though I did like the scene with Booth sucking the pacifier too. Hehe - like the way they're together in this one though. Good work.

Monisse chapter 1 . 6/4/2008
Ohh so worth it! Every single word was worth reading. I've read the previous story and this one is a lovely addition to it.

You have a serious way with the emotions on the characters and a funny kind of fluff.

I really enjoyed reading it!
