I had clicked on this along with another, reviewing the 'roommate' search through fics. I blindly started reading this after seeing the speel which set it apart from the other college AUs, Kagome getting a surprise hot house-mate, and an almost surreal amount of Sesshoumaru/Naraku yaoi fics...

Anyways, in that process I forgot to revise which of the two fanfictions were the twelve chapter story, and the oneshot. But here I am at the end of your fanfiction -which I was convinced was the twelve chapter- and oddly not dissapointed?

I mean, okay for the record, your depiction of Inuyasha is an ultimate headcanon. He's rude, oddly humorous, and a sweetie at times; serious swooning material. So on that front, I was won over by the first sentence. However! Your twist on Kagome's personality which I much associated to Sango (being the 'bro' or best friend in many a fics I've read) really kicked off the story.

Without even touching on your sublime writing techniques, the character profiles in themselves were honestly irresistible. The in-depth detail on club whereabouts really set the stage for a believable night out, in this sense your imagery was perfect at doing the job it was meant to.

I admired the open casual conversations between characters, as well as descriptions of their interactions. One of most interactions being Kagome's inner dialogue throughout the story, emphasising the ability for the reader to interpret and become involved in the story itself.

Whilst reading I felt flow, I wasn't bored into skipping lines of detail, or having to re-read obsolete sentence structures to decipher the meaning. It was balanced, allowing for the plot to progress without interruptions; with ease and entertainment.

Of course there were paragraphs I couldn't resist re-reading, such as the beautifully written smooch scenes, Kagome's run in with Kikyou, and pre-confession at the club, but those were chosen; not forced.

By the end of the fiction, there was well developed character in both Kagome and Inuyasha. The quirks in their personalities resonated with me, making it seem I had been reading longer than I would've guessed.

Which brings it to my final compliments. It was at the end I realised this was a oneshot. The timely manner in which events did ensue progressed unusually smoothly when coming to the finish line of fanfictions. Of course this wasn't obvious to me, going back thinking I should have realised the -girl likes boy, boy has girlfriend, they break-up- scenario, and thought 'oh this is where it's going'. In a way, it feels like my expectations were bent, which is something I respect from a genre so played on as roommates.

So as a romantic oneshot, it panned out cleverly. Without rush and severity, without face cringing and questioning concepts; a way which wouldn't have been accomplished if it weren't for your balanced writing techniques.

I have yet to check out if you're active on this site anymore, or have any other fanfictions more recent than 2008, but nonetheless my compliments to you for this personal take on your average AU gang! :)
