Aw... this is a great story in a wonderful story arc. The idea of Kate being pregnant and Jack accidently causing her to miscarriage is so, so sad... especially knowing Jack's character and how he blames himself for everything. It makes it even easier to imagine Jack falling into alcohol and drugs.

And as much as I loved emotional!druggie!Jack and his talk with Kate, I'm glad this story has an ending where he sobers up and stuff... and the balloon part was really sweet and sad... Aaron's adorable. I'm glad Kate is pregnant again, too. :) Basically, what I'm trying to say is as much as I love Jack angst, I'm glad this story has a happy ending.

You write really well. I can imagine every scene vividly in my head. And I feel the character's emotions strongly. You are the master of Jate fanfiction. :) Thank you for writing this.

The balloons were a great memorial to their loss and I love how it symbolizes that they can let go of their pasts. It's nice that kate is pregnant again and that Jack is off the drugs. Everything is so very vivid. I really have to say that you are a wonderful writer and this is one of my all time favorite stories!

Jack is so good with Aaron. It's great to see him back home where he belongs. This was a wonderful chapter and Jack and Kate finally got to work out what's been keeping them apart all these months. Now hopefully it's time for both of them to heal.

I'm really glad to see that Kate finally realizes that Jack needs her as much as she needs him and it's great that she is up for helping him through this. Jack really seems out of it in this chapter, poor guy.

My favourite part:

“Kate? Will you be here when I wake up?” he murmured, reminding her so much of a little boy, of Aaron that it tugged at her heartstrings and she couldn’t help smiling through her tears.

She couldn’t leave him when he was so vulnerable. Not when he needed her to get through the night.

“Yeah, Jack, I’ll be here,” she agreed

Hopefully now that he knows she has forgiven him he can finally forgive himself.

Wow, this is really great. It's sad that Kate blames herself for Aaron's accident, she such a good mother and Jack really does need to take his own advice. I hope in the long run he'll be able to man up and be there for Kate and Aaron instead of pushing them away. I think he really needs to hear Kate say that she's forgiven him.

This is such a great fic, probably one of my favorites of all time.

The balloon idea was great. I think it definitely suits their characters to do something like that to get over the miscarriage, than to have a funeral for the baby.

I meant to review this a few days ago but I got bogged down with work. What a wonderful ending. It's nice to see Jack finally starting to relax into taking care of Aaron and he certainly looks like he has come a long way. I felt really bad when Jack wouldn't push Aaron on the swings but it's completely understandable that he needed time to himself after what he had to do. The balloons were a very nice touch and really seemed to give Jack the closure that he needed.

My favourite part:

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have doubts,” he agreed, and she could see the shadow that flickered over his expression, “but I swear to you, Kate, I won’t let you down. Not this time. Not again.”

He seems like he's almost back to the old Jack we all know and love.

I was also impressed at the way in which Kate was handling things. It is very realistic that she knows he won't get better overnight and the fact that she is having another child seems to give them the second chance they both deserve.

Again this is my favourite fic ever lol!

What a beautiful ending! Thank you for the writing. I like the idea of them releasing the ballons into the air, as a sign of acknowleging and letting go of the loss and past regrets.

I was just thinking that it would be nice and less confronting if the next baby was a girl, and yes, surprised (in a good way) that you've mentioned in the footnote that the baby is a girl :)

I'm glad that you made the epilogue. The start was a little bit of sad, but the end made it all better. A girl, wow, that was surely daddies girl. :-)

I just started reading, and OH MY GOD, chapter two broke my heart. Poor Jack. He is just so heart breaking, its very strange for me to see and read about a Jack who is so disheveled and sad when I am so used to a seemingly all together Jack. Your portrayal of him is really good, sad, but good. Poor Kate. She is so supportive him despite it all, you gotta love her reluctant devotion. Anyways, this is really, really, good so far and I am (im)patiently waiting for your next update.
