| geosordino chapter 3 . 7/21/2014 As far as I know, there is no state in the US (and I've been a rape counselor in two of them) where you can be forced to have a rape kit. You can ask for an advocate from a rape crisis program to be with you and help you make those decisions, should you wish. And, if you do have a rape kit, you can have the police take it right away, or you can choose to have the hospital store the collected evidence while you decide whether or not you want to turn it over to the police. I say this only because too many people think their choices will be taken away / they'll be forced to cooperate with police, and that's why they don't seek medical treatment. That's just not the case. |
