i liked your story. it seems like a situation that could happen while sticking to cannon. it's something that i could see happening. i loved your line "That we could've had forever and we never knew". if a few things had happened differently, they wouldn't be having this conversation. they wouldn't need to have this conversation. their relationship is one that could have developed romantically but didn't, but the feeling that something could have happened is still there and sort of haunts them at moments with all of the might-have-beens even while they are perfectly happy with the lives that they do have. and that line says it all

and it's not at all surprising that it would take him YEARS to finally realize it.

that last line is perfect too. "As it always happens, simply by his presence, he has made your life just a little darker, and at the same time just a little lighter." because without him, she might not have gained friends, or lived as much as one does while risking your life. but also because of him, she has had to live through so many difficult times.

i think that it sums up perfectly their relationship and what could have been. good job

Rose chapter 1 . 5/4/2008
That was absolutely perfect. This is exactly what I can see happening, that is, if I allow myself to take canon as truth. (personally, I like to live in a world where Harmony exists and thrives and the chest monster died a quick death)

This line -"that we could've had forever and we never knew"- broke my heart, but the last line was so befitting of H/Hr.
