I fully realize how old this is story is, and how much time has passed since you (and honestly, me) were on here actively. I've even reviewed the end of this fic before, I think. This site has been part of my life for a very long time, and I'll never forget the inspiration and engagement I received from stories like this one, and several others on my favorites list. I come back every now and then to reread the ones I truly loved, and this was one of them. I love seeing the work you put into it. I love seeing Elle develop and grow, from immature, irrational but nonetheless well-meaning Elle to still well-meaning but also kindhearted, though still a bit reckless, Elle. I love seeing the plot develop to something more complex, and the same with your writing. The Midsummer Night's Dream part (my favorite) is where I see the most development, and the story really kicks off from there. It was always a good idea, and I applaud you for following that idea to the end, no matter how long it took.

Perhaps it's nostalgia, but I always look back at this era of fanfiction fairytales as my favorite. I already mentioned that I'm not actively on here except for occasional rereading, and it's simply because I miss the authors, like you and Clar the Pirate (who you mentioned in an AN) and so many others, and I miss your stories. There was such an amazing knack for good storytelling on here around then. We grow and change and find new things, but I'll always be grateful for the gift that your stories & others' were. They were original, and tried their best not to be contrived, to avoid tropes that functioned as the main storytelling device.

Anyway this is long and absurdly sentimental for a stranger on the internet, but I'm at a sentimental place in life, and beg your forgiveness. Lastly, I wanted to mention how much I adore your portrayal of "True Love". That it's what you make of it, that you have a choice, that there isn't necessarily just One True Love in your whole lifetime, that sometimes your True Love doesn't love you back...If I'm honest, I'm a bit of an Elle, a skeptic that is also a romantic, but doesn't want to be set up for disappointment with a naive, unrealistic belief (I also adore Andersen's Little Mermaid story because of it's tragic ending - it may be my favorite). Many people treat this as something that's wrong or bad, and I've had more than one person express disappointment and concern for me when I express this view. "I just think it's sad," or "how can you trust anyone that way?" But I appreciate the portrayal of Elle, believing in True Love for others and not herself, letting others have their happiness but being practical in her own life, simply because that's who she is, and (eventually) accepting love when it finds her, not because it's her True Love and she has to, but because it is love that is true. If that makes sense.

Anyway, this is horribly long and personal for a review you will likely never see, but I just wanted to say...thanks. For writing, for not deleting your account or this story. Wherever you are now...Keep being awesome.

I'm fairly positive that you're no longer on this site, but I'd just like to let you know that I've enjoyed this story since I was 13 years old and I think about it often (I'm now 19, and in college). I'd like to thank you for making a positive impact on my life, and I'm glad to say that this story is as good as I remember it being. Excellent work!

I don't care if you had written this story 8 years ago, cause i just wanted to say that, "IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING!" it took me almost four days to finish it and now I'm going for the second it was that good.

This was amazing! I absolutely loved the 1st chapter! Your writing style is unique and the narrator is hilarious! This actually reminds me of a book series called Unenchanted that I read.
This needs to be published! It's already better than a lot of the books out there! :)

Hello I have read your whole entire story from chapter 1 through 70! And I just really wanted to tell you how amazing it was. It was basically one of the best books i have ever read. The Little Mermaid is also my favourite fairy tale, but I have only seen the Disney version of it. Is the other version just a book ? Sounds very interesting. I hope you are still writing more longer books as I'll be ready to read! You are amazing with the suspense, sarcasm, friendship and love in this book, Donovan was my favourite character. Now the not knowing what's next in Elle's and Donovans life together ... intense! Xxx love Kaitlin :)
