That was sad, sweet and joyful, all at the same time.

I love the stories where Dean is forced to stay still and listen, react, etc.

His rememberance of his mom's birthday and the way he retold it to Sam was so touching. Sam's reaction was touching as well. Those two kill me sometimes.

I guess with the uncertanty we're experiencing between the brothers in this newest season, the title of this fic jumped out at me and demanded to be read, and I'm glad I did.

This couldn't have been easy for you to write, but I hoped it helped get you through your mom's day. (hug)

That was beautiful! The language was so emotive and powerful; I was welling up when Dean and Sam were remembering their Mom. Thank you very much for sharing!

So, I started to read this one, realized I'd read it already, thought well that sucks, and then I realized I hadn't reviewed, So, let me share, I liked it the first time and I liked it the second time LOL!

Great banter/dialogue, as always. I loved this: “Dude, I’m not five. You’ll be telling me next to think of my happy place.” Sam grimaced. “I don’t even wanna know where that would be.” he said and was rewarded with a grin. LOL

When Dean was calling his injury a "scratch" it really reminded me of the Monty Python scene "It's just a flesh wound." I could hear that in my head, and had to laugh. :)

And I laughed out loud at this: "Sam briefly wondered about knocking himself out until Bobby arrived." ROTFL Only Dean could engender such a response. LOL

Nice bit of insight here into Dean's character: "When they were kids it had just been the day when John would be in a worse mood than usual and Dean would work twice as hard to try and make up for it."

I LOVED seeing Dean's memories of his mom's birthday, seeing how their family was before YED came into the picture. So bittersweet. It made my heart just bleed for Dean. I think you mentioned that lake memory one other time, too. I'll have to go back and look through your older stories and see if I can find it.

And thanks for this: “I did have some nice memories as a kid, Dean. And most of them were thanks to you.” Aw! Good to see Sam appreciating all Dean did for him growing up.

And VERY nicely done, bringing in the Djinn,and tying that into Dean's thoughts. This was so sad: "He couldn’t help but wonder how many other great birthdays there would have been if he’d stayed in the alternate universe. He knew it wasn’t real, deep down, but it didn’t change how it had felt to actually be with his Mom. To hear her laugh, see her smile. Sometimes it was hard to fix in his mind his real memories, faded as they were, and not to think about the fake world the Djinn had created." *sniffle*

I loved that you worked Bobby into the story. Loved this exchange: "“I see his sunny disposition ain’t been affected.” “Why would it, it’s just a scratch apparently.” LOL He was a great addition, and you wrote him so well.

And of course, the end was so sweet and sad. Glad Sam thought of something they could do to commemmorate Mary. Well done, I'm going to add this to my favorites.
