Lovely story, though for me it raises a few questions, like: what physical state is Anakin/Darth Vader actually in? Presumably this is a version in which he survives, rather than being present as a ghost, but is he actually capable of eating and drinking? (I'm not clear about what precisely his life-support system does.) And presumably everyone there knows who he is - but his presence isn't creating widespread panic. I think I'll need to read your other stories to understand what's going on.

I think that you answered your own question there, Han. Vader needed this place because it WAS his little shard of paradise - The place where he could leave behind Palpatine's insane, giggling voice and the need to keep a squabbling Empire full of ambitious bureaucrats by force. A place where he and the Force could be alone together, where he could consider his regrets and meditate on how much he intended to make Palpatine suffer for lying to him before killing him.
