Poignant way of reminding me Liara will live so so so long after everyone is dead and that's she's so so young during everything that happened in Mass Effect.

I loved the entire exchange between Kaidan and Liara, super in character. I was never much of a fan of Kaidan, but you're making me love the guy. Next time I play I'm going to add this story as headcannon. I love that about fanfic, you start to read a lot of it from the right people and lines blur and you truly forget sometimes which short scene was cannon and which wasn't.

Love the very slow burn romance and how you integrate a part of the game ( buying the best equipment for your squaddies) into a scene that feels and is normal.

Ok. I'm the hopeless fan from tumblr. My idea was to review this from chapter one but to be honest I'm too hooked to go back now (but I will) and this chapter just kicked so much ass I have decided to stop thinking about my WIP for at least 6 months because you do things so well I have zero inclination to add anything to the Mass Effect fandom. It's all here. End of story. But on to this chapter...

I was just commenting to my husband that I was amazed at how, it seems to me, at least, you demonstrate 100% immersion in the ME universe by dialogue & setting choice. It feels like authentic Mass Effect dialogue and I know I'm not the first one to say it because I've combed through some reviews for this just because I wanted to verify my hunch. I'm going to slap a bit more praise on the subject of dialogue though, I actually believe the dialogue is better than the one we got in game because the medium is different and you're a writer so you can focus 100% on that while the game could not.

Bits that I loved:

1- "How do you deal with?" Alenko asked, pointing at the pilot's crutches hooked over an empty chair. [Because you didn't write "how do you deal with vrolik's?" which is the type of question I often find in fanfic, which, again, I love fanfic but you go past 25 years old and some of the content in fandom no longer appeals to you]

2- "Little Paper Umbrellas Per Square Inch," Shepard replied with a sly smile. She took a sip of the drink, then made a speculative face. "Woo. Float like butterfly, sting like brick. Perfect." [Because it makes Shepard a human and a cute one at that and it's a nice contrast. I'm a sucker for contrasty character traits, I underline them in all the books I find them.]

3- "Nah," the commander replied with a smirk, "but at oh-eight-hundred tomorrow everybody's favorite fairy godfather Ambassador Udina wants to waggle his finger at me some more, so I should have my head screwed on straight enough to pretend I care." [Because it's damned funny and real. I love this one specially]

4- Joker frowned in disappointment, drumming his fingers on the table as he watched her go. He finally turned back only to find Alenko regarding him with a raised eyebrow. The pilot scowled in return, daring the other man to make a smart remark. Instead, the lieutenant picked up his beer and lifted it in toast.
"To misery," he said with a smirk. [Because it just flows for me. There are no extra words anywhere, has a punch to it and it wraps up their previous conversation neatly.]

I have not proofread this review, I had 15 minutes to myself before toddler duties so I apologize for any incoherences.

Good choice for ash, she gets a better death ending than kaiden. Very interesting take!

Your portrayel of Kaiden is way better than the games in my opinion (which is weird) I never really could tell whether I liked his character or not, your fanfic gives him some depth. Well done on both him and Shepard!

Your Shepard has the gender, appearance and backstory of mine. I have been thoroughly spooked. I discovered two people with my exact same mannerisms. An aniamtic and a show now make sense, I've found that axe in Japanese is oh no and I've fallen over my desk chair.

All in all, 10/10 would navigate through space again.

Ahhh, really sweetly written. It's hard to find a fanfic that covers their sex scene without making it all raunchy and making it more emotional.

Damn, I really like that connection to Cerberus! Really good set up for ME2.

I really liked that extra dimension of jealousy Kaidan has for Liara, to make it more than her spending time with Shepard. Good job
