Reviews for The Heart of the Jedi
Virgo Galadis chapter 15 . 4/12/2019
Well the ending of chapter was a bit off for me... It was fun, but I think pranks are a bit uncharacteristical for Jedi. The lightsaber assembly was great after all.
Virgo Galadis chapter 14 . 4/12/2019
Woww, this chapter was beautiful! I really liked the conclusion in the end, that the thing Qui-Gon was missing was Obi-Wan's assistance. It fits perfectly in the Jedi wisdom. But also the whole chapter was really cute, with Qui-Gon comforting Obi-Wan :)

I really loved this story! Thanks

Oooh, I really like this one, particularly the foreshadowing of the visions on Illum! Did Obi-Wan see Darth Vader? I like how you brought in characters like Bant and Tahl without taking the focus from Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. This story is very well written and enjoyable to read, and the plot is excellent as well. Thank you for sharing this story, and God bless!
BladedBlossom chapter 18 . 10/24/2012
I am such a sucker for Force bonds, and especially with this team. The last scene had pleasant tingles down my spine. What a great idea to use the lightsaber as a vehicle for expressing the bond. I'm glad Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan found the harmony they were looking for.

I was shocked at Dooku's appearance and it was a clever vision to input for Obi-Wan's quest.

This was an enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing.

The conversation with Bant had me in tears. So sincere, so honest, and I adore Bant. She's one of those overlooked but very wise Jedi that stay in the background but are always ready to lend a hand or an ear. Obi-Wan may not be destined to be Dooku or Mace, but he's plenty crafty, good with computers, and I think there are few with the ability to empathize, and people react to that.
BladedBlossom chapter 9 . 10/23/2012
Good on Qui-Gon. *grins and giggles* I was actually thoroughly engrossed in the description and individual touches to Qui-Gon's room. Interesting point you raise about Obi-Wan not being able to assert his own individuality, always following Qui-Gon's example. And of course, the correct way to call a cookie to one's hand. Very nice.
BladedBlossom chapter 8 . 10/23/2012
The frustration and sorrow really came through here since Obi-Wan didn't learn much of anything, was ignored by practically everyone, and probably just felt like dead weight. I know first hand what that's like and it's a lonely, demoralizing experience. I think on some level, Qui-Gon sympathized with this so did not chastize him. I particularly liked Qui-Gon's musings at the end of this chapter about what Illum must mean for Obi-Wan, and his own misgivings about the kind of Master he's being. They just have to find that harmony both Master and apprentice want deep in their cores. I'll definitely be cheering for them.
BladedBlossom chapter 6 . 10/23/2012
Not much to say, but very cool idea with the room of sabers and selecting possible candidates to base a lightsaber on using the Force and previous sabers one has owned. Great chapter.
BladedBlossom chapter 4 . 10/23/2012
Okay, that image of the crystal stowaways was too funny. I laughed aloud. And the whimsical way Yoda pointed them out. Totally him. Very cool set-up for both Master and apprentice to design and find new crystals. Can't wait to see what happens.

And I can totally relate to Qui-Gon wishing there had been something deeper with a Padawan. I always thought Qui-Gon would have wanted a Padawan who cherished emotional closeness, and that aspect of his character resonates so deeply with me. Obi-Wan really is a great match in that, and their complementary, if sometimes contentious, ways of thinking make them a formidable team.

You're a good author, I have to say. I tend not to review everything I read, or even every chapter of a story, but this chapter was absolutely great. Loved the lecture on lightsabers and how Jedi can outgrow them, like robes. Having designs filed in an archive is a brilliant idea I haven't seen before or thought of, and so touching of Qui-Gon to reveal himself that way to Obi-Wan and give authorization to pull up the file whenever he wants.

And the hair braiding. I think that is such an excellent bonding point, or even tokens of apprenticeship. So heartwarming. I'm a sucker for scenes that affirm bonds like that. The physical closeness was just awww.

Nice work.

I'm terribly late to the party on this fic, but I just wanted to let you know that I read this in one sitting and was in awe of the story, the execution, the characterization...pretty much everything. Well done. I haven't read Star Wars fan fic in ages, but I'm glad I found this story!

Loved this story..it felt right out of JA. ~Obi's Mom

Thank you. You've just reminded me of exactly why I love Star Wars so much. I'm afraid I've been becoming far too materialistic in this fandom - less feeling the Force and more the gathering of action figures. And that way lies the Dark Side. :D

This was wonderfully written, and simply perfect.
Tashilovet chapter 4 . 11/29/2008
I know exactly how Qui-Gon feels. It's like when you place your teddy bear- the teddy bear you've had for years- in the garage sale. You feel a bit sad, empty almost, to know you'll never see the bear again even though it's been part of your life for years.

But then it gets sold and life goes on. Soon that feeling fades but every once in a while...you think of that bear and smile. But do no more than that.
