avatarjk137 chapter 12 . 3/5/2009 Great work! The bubble-gum barrier being used to keep Gilgamesh out is a stroke of insane genius - I'll have to add that to Death by Chocolate's arsenal for future reference. Can't wait to see what you're doing for the actual Chaos Round! |
AngelLucifel chapter 11 . 11/23/2008 Ok, well, can't fault you for not knowing Li'ain was so powerful, but I CAN fault you for misspelling her name! haha, kidding, kidding. I really liked the fight, your action was good, etcetera (I tried to make it clear Blink couldn't teleport too much, too easily, but it's not your fault I didn't make it clear, it's not really Whist's core fighting style to pop around like that, but you wrote it really well and I didn't mind in the slightest). Whist was properly snarky and shifty, and the end was beautifully intense. But, I do have one complaint (I hate being bitchy, but this really made me bristle, but I LOVED everything leading up to it) Whist would never had let that go. Li'ain was his one and only friend besides Blink, the first HUMAN he ever felt compassion for. He would have blamed Woflwood, or at least been angry enough to attack ANYHTING, and would have kept going until Wolfwood was just as dead as Li'ain. Whist is selfish, but he's not emotionally weak, so his weakness at Li'ain's capture was a little inaccurate. BUT! (hehe, butt...) besides that you had him right on, and I especially loved how you were hyper aware of his and Blink's connection. Really lovely. good luck! |
avatarjk137 chapter 11 . 11/19/2008 Great work. An awesomely heartrending finish, a very solid action sequence, good characterization (as far as I understand it, I don't know Trigun or Broken Sky)... overall just great. |
Aelsthla-Mental chapter 10 . 11/15/2008 Awesome job! Scary the time you put it in though... Aahh well, Wolfwood has his little 'tube of toxins' and is ready for some action! Meanwhile Kirei really likes that sword for some reason... Perhaps as a catalyst. Well yeah, good luck! |
avatarjk137 chapter 10 . 11/15/2008 Ahh, nice prelude. The spy chocolate thing was ingenious, I must say. Also, it was good of you to use Kirei; I'm still figuring out exactly what to do with him in the story's conclusion (most everybody's role changes depending on whether Roku or Kyuubi wins the tournament proper, for one thing). Good work, and I'm eager to see your entry proper! |
avatarjk137 chapter 9 . 10/6/2008 Wow, this one was definitely worth the extra few hours' wait. Great action, great characterization and story development, and a very epic finish. Great work! |
avatarjk137 chapter 8 . 9/24/2008 Yay for Deadpool Ex Machina, and for a reference to Airplane. Good work on this. |
Aelsthla-Mental chapter 8 . 9/23/2008 Heh, great job! Now I just have to wait to see the battle. Deadpool's sagely advice will help you greatly. Anyway, good luck! |
AngelLucifel chapter 7 . 8/25/2008 well, from what you've got so far it's pretty intense! I like your strategies and I adore how you brought in mewtwo (good thing I read Av's thing first). A few things about characterization though: Kyuubi is not a christian demon. He's not really a denizen of hell, but more like a massive force of nature's evil gone hay-wire. Think asian culture not european. So, honestly the cross wouldn't mean anything to him. I liked your line about his one fear, my only thought was that Kyuubi would never believe that there WAS anyone more powerful than him until he was actually dead by that. Nor would he believe a human had that creature's power. I don't honestly find it believable that Wolfwood could get under his skin. Kyuubi's not exactly sensitive, y'know? but it was still a good image. The demon stare was a nice touch, and since all of Kyuubi's powers are pretty much up for grabs I guess it's fairly legitimate. I didn't think it was all that likely, but it was a really nice touch. It's neat to see other contestants adding their own flavor to Kyuubi's abilities. Kyuubi's also more of a tooth-and-claw type when it comes to causing damage. He uses his chakra (the demon fire) as defense and occasionally for a massive wave of long-range power, or extended torment. Fireballs aren't so much his thing. Ok, that's probably WAY too much from me. If I seemed a little critical it's just cause I'm so fond of Kyuubi's character, don't think you did poorly. It's probably one of the better characterizations of him thus far. I like this fight a lot, the tremendous detail and twisting strategies are great. Keep it up! I'll be around to see how it ends. |
avatarjk137 chapter 7 . 8/23/2008 Er... what you have so far is good. Excellent, in fact. However, I'm going to put my foot down and say that if you're more than ten days late at posting a COMPLETE chapter, I'm going to disqualify you and do what I did with TSS's partners where Skipper's entry is judged on its own merits against both opponents. I'm really pretty disappointed in you for being so late this round, of all rounds. |
avatarjk137 chapter 6 . 8/12/2008 Very good work. Again, I hope the fight itself matches this prelude. Of course, last time I gave you an extension I was very glad I did, so I don't think I have anything to worry about. On a side note, by pissing off Gilgamesh, you've given Death by Chocolate a SECOND high-ranking demon breathing down his neck over the tournament. Thanks for adding to the drama for me; this is going to factor into my next behind the scenes chapter! |
Captain Deadpool chapter 5 . 6/19/2008 This chapter played out like a good action movie: Hard and fast. |
avatarjk137 chapter 5 . 6/19/2008 Great work! That was a really exciting fight. I won't penalize you for being forty-five minutes late, but I can't make promises for the other judges. You might not want to cut it so close this time. |
Aelsthla-Mental chapter 5 . 6/18/2008 ...Wow, i love it. My chances of winning have just decreased dramatically. Aahh well. Anyway, i'll point out the good first. 1. Detailed fight scenes. Rather fun to read. 2. The fact it was a lift fight scene. AWESOME! 3. the two Deadpool references that i noticed. "Through the smoke, he could see Lancer, grinning madly. It reminded him of someone he had just met." "Wolfwood caught a glance of Deadpool, in a deadlock with another ninja, surrounded by smouldering craters in the middle of a forest section." 4. The many other references for other characters fighting. 5. The close match! And now... what i didn't like. 1. A couple of things to do with Lancer's character weren't quite right. His noble phantasm, gae bolk, has pierced the target when the name is involked, so really it is unblockable (Although, i did think of a plausible reason. Wolfwood had a high degree of luck, allowing that to be nullified, then the sword protected him from the rest.) 2. The sword, even with it's enchantments, could NOT have destroyed gae bulg. 3. Lancer does have his honour, and i don't see him breaking the rules for something that petty. He does work himself into bloodlusts, true, but i doubt he would be driven to that. This point is debatable, so meh. So yeah, thats about all i have to say, one last thing. GREAT WORK! |
Turtle Kid the Woolgatherer chapter 4 . 6/15/2008 This looks interesting. Thanks for writing! |
