This is a nice story. In fact it seems like it could have been a deleted scene/alternate ending from the movie.

This is definately a moment for Obi-Wan. After having his closest friend die right in front of him he has to immediately let go. You made him out to be as strong as he is displayed in the movies. What more, you do some excellent character work when he listens to Maul. It really shows his patient nature to talk to the man responsible for Qui-Gon's death.

I also like the way you show Maul's character. The fact that you have him speak to the jedi is something on its own. Even with that he doesn't say anything condescending or harsh to Obi-Wan, just a simple question about death. It makes me wonder if he knows he's going to die despite the fact that he is determined not to. This is different than most depictions of him and I think you did a marvelous job with his character.

This made for a very interesting read. Good work with this story.

This was fantastic! You never even said Maul's name; he was just "the knight of the black king." That description was so vivid and beautiful, and I'm angry that you thought of it first! I loved when Obi-Wan thought he "could manage," and Maul's words were so perfectly in character.

Beautiful work. This is well-deserved of its spot on my favorites list.
